I like how if you hold the grips in a natural position, literally none of the buttons can be reached by your thumb. Except maybe the horn and wiper controls.

Everything in the center requires twisting your wrists super awkwardly. Or if you pull a hand off you have to use the opposite hand or the grips will get in the way.

I can, too.

Imagine putting your right thumb up to press the horn button (you'd have to rotate your grip inwards a bit, turning the back of your hand towards the passenger), but the action isn't completely smooth and even. The button is surprisingly thin, and it tilts a bit under your press. You learn that if you don't press it towards the center, it jams halfway down because the fit is sloppy, like a 1980's fisher price robot toy.

I was thinking about the plastic squeaky noises the whole contraption would make. Don't get me wrong, it is awesome, but you know exactly what it would be like in production.

But seriously though, isn't that the brake pedal right there, but with no gas pedal next to it? I want to know how this thing gained forward momentum. Was there some awesome cyberpunk propulsion method or was this not an operational prototype and they just forgot to glue a gas pedal in the footwell?

yeah but except in my dream those are all anodized metal pieces that fit together perfectly and have the most satisfying heavy mechanical clicky feel when you press the buttons

Oh yeah, that's definitely the dream. But what I love about the whole cyberpunk aesthetic is how you've got this future world full of wicked tech, but it's all somehow just a bit poo poo.

Techmoan just released a video (this morning) about something that fits in with that car perfectly

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTV99DzuJp0

It's a film camera, that writes magnetic EXIF data to a stripe alongside the roll, and they give you the developed roll back so you can play it on your composite-out picture viewer while tinny music plays in the background and a horrible mechanical whirring clunks in the background. Skip to 8:00 or so if you don't care about his trial in getting it to work.

Plus, the machine is grey, not beige. CYBERPUNK. "Cool tech but just a bit poo poo." Like plastics on a 70s-90s Honda motorcycle.

Lift your foot, it brakes. Press down on the pedal and it accelerates.

Yeah cyberpunk stuff never really seems to have all that much interest in ergonomics, it's all about throwing as many buttons and switches as possible at an application and that somehow satisfies me.

:eng101: The camera actually just shot a single aspect ratio (always the 16:9 "H" image) and the other two were created by cropping the center of the frame. The magnetic coding told the printer which cropping to use for the shot.

Yes, this means that the "panoramic" shot was actually the lowest resolution of the three possibilities, and the only reason to shoot in C was if you wanted your photos to fit in a regular frame and didn't own a pair of scissors.

Wait, why isn't this product selling?
