I'm still hoping for FFX to get a good showing at some point. Sin would be a great story arc adversary or maybe just a raid, there's a few all-new airships, two new beast tribes, Vegnagun would fit right in as a Garlean or older superweapon, and Seymour would be a natural choice for the X Legion legatus.

I honestly don't really know what bosses you could do that are iconic to 7 that aren't the gem weapons and sephiroth. Maybe a jenova fight where the phases are her forms? Bizarro sephiroth would honestly work better for a 24 man though since you could fight him with three parties.

There's been a suspicious lack of FFIV content, especially considering how popular it is in Japan.

Eh 7's got it's fair share of bosses that I'm sure people will remember like Lost Number, Materia Keeper, Schizo, Carry Armor and Proud Clad. And then you've got Jenova for the third boss easy, or even Hojo and Jenova is like a phase on Sephiroth.

It would be pretty hilarious if all of Omegascape was just Jenova, Jenova, Jenova and Jenova. Because there are indeed that many versions of the boss you fight in 7 :v:

The main iconic bosses from 7 that's not a WEAPON or Jenova would be Missing Number, Hojo, Proud Clod and maybe Carry Armor. Could also throw in Aps or Bottomswell.

Guard Scorpion's already in Ala Mhigo, which would make Proud Clod & Carry Armor more special Garlean machines than Omegascape bosses.

Missing Number's gimmick is interesting enough to be raidworthy while everything other than Hojo is kinda just there in terms of tactics.

Hypello and Ronso?

I'm not sure how XIV could do Sin justice, though. Bismarck already cribbed its fight and almost every boss has Overdrive Sin's gimmick now.

Vegnagun could be cool, though. And I wonder how a Seymour Legatus could work. Would he want to become a Primal to destroy the world?

I'm thinking the next tier of Omega will be a bit of a 'greatest hits' as there've been a couple references to other simulations, and it seems that he's running the whole thing like a Tournament bracket. So we might well get the 'winners' of other simulations. and could end up with Sephiroth, Ultimecia, Kuja and finally Omega.

I've thought before that the X Legion could work if they're presented as the Empire's specialists at Allagan magitek and hunting primals. Seymour, Yunalesca, and maybe Auron as the Empire's top summoning experts would fit, perhaps the entire X Legion could be drawn from non-Garleans as a sort of black ops unit. Seymour was only half human, easy enough to make him so in FF14. Not hard to imagine an Imperial version of Seymour going a bit batty - the very guy who was supposed to protect the Empire from the dangers of summoning and primals becoming an incredibly dangerous one, particularly if it leads into a trial against Anima.

Or perhaps they'd work as the old guard of the Empire, who still keep to the old ways of Garlemald before this magitek poo poo started up. The Al Behd would be natural allies for the Eorzeans, and given that one of FFX's main themes was tradition versus innovation, perhaps cast the X Legion as the people who want to restore the Garlemald of old, from before the Empire.

A fight with jenova mutating through it’s various forms would be amazing visually. There’s also Gi Nattak. Or be real cool and stupid and do Motorball complete with motorcycle chase phases.

I was away from the game for a little while, but I just came back, caught up with the MSQ (new trial is gorgeous and pitch-perfect challenge wise), and ran Ridorana.

I really love how this is canonically Darkest Timeline FFXII.

Also love the raid, even though I hate math and I think whoever designed that part is also probably responsible for that red chocobo dumpster fire.

But at the end of the day the most important thing is that I got Vaan's vest and wow I look like a complete dork in it, meaning it could not be more perfect.

I'm actually kind of leaning toward the last raid tier being FF9 based. Cause 9 fits the aesthetic better and Kuja being made as a disposable combat clone then ganking Omega to be the final raid boss would be pretty fitting.

I've just come back to the game after a year or so. I think I had a level 35 Marauder, but I decided to start fresh and am levelling a Thaumaturge. He's level 15 at the moment, and I still realistically only have 2 spells. I just cast Fire and Blizzard. I have Thunder but it's not really worth using on normal mobs because the damage is so piddly. How long until it gets a bit more involved? I'm sure I had more to do on the other characters I played a while back.

Dumb question. I've played on PS4 before but it's really inconvenient when it comes to keeping it up to date, and keeping enough free space for it and other games on my base sized drive. Would I need to make a new service account to buy the PC version and later the expansions? Are rewards for staying subbed multiple months still a thing and would it pick up where it left off if I subbed on PC?

Also I totally wish I could have Limsa Lominsa as my starting city even when I make a Thermaturge, but alas.

Thank you very much. Saddest thing is having to give up my current character because he's on a west coast high pop server and my internet is just impossible to play on west coast during prime time in MMOs.

From experience I don't really trust it. Going from WoW as an example the difference between prime time and not on a west coast server is 75ms to 350+ms.

Thunder's damage only looks piddly because the game does a bad job of telling you how much damage you're doing with your damage over time stuff.

Thunder deals 40 potency every tick. One tick is three seconds, and Thunder lasts 18 seconds, so that's six ticks. 6 x 40 = 240, and add the initial 30 for 270 potency. Fire, by contrast, does 252 potency (180 base x 1.4 for Astral Fire). So if you think something's going to live more than eighteen seconds, it's absolutely worth hitting it with Thunder.

You can get a second stack of Astral Fire at 20, which brings Fire to effectively 288 potency, and at 40 you can get a third stack of Astral Fire which effectively makes Fire into 324 potency. But at 45 you upgrade Thunder to Thunder 3, which is 390 potency (eight ticks of 40 potency plus the initial 70). Plus Thunder isn't reduced by being in Umbral Ice so you can shock a fucker while you're in recharge mode, plus there's the Thundercloud effect you get at 28, which gives you a chance to throw a Thunder that does all the damage front loaded and applies the ticking damage.

Or in short: Thunder is Good, the game is just bad at telling you poo poo, use Thunder.

As someone who transferred to europe after they switched to west coast from east coast hosting, the difference is night and day. East coast was perfectly playable, west coast is a shitshow and required VPN for the game to be even playable almost half the time.

I just started playing again recently (I had played before a few years ago and really enjoyed it, but ended up having to stop for life reasons), and you can always do what I did and just make a Limsa Lominsa class and then reclass to what you want when that becomes possible (I think when you finish the level 10 class quest and can travel to another city). It's not like it takes long to reach that point.

I really like how well suited this game is to single-player, though I'll still join the goon guild later (I had no trouble immediately creating the character on Excalibur, so maybe that isn't difficult anymore; I remember having a hell of a time creating a character on some other goon guild server a few years ago).

Yea the main reason I wanted to do that is I guess it seems a big part of your beginning quest experience is based off of where you start. I don't mind the other areas because of the characters but I just love running around the environments in Limsa.

Then again if I went Thermaturge I would end up having to hang around that city anyway for the kill log.

Level 15 is around the point where the three opening city questlines converge into the one story quest going forward, so there isn't that much difference.
