Not banned, more refused. They're opting to use their right to bar entry to anyone they think could damage the image of the race.

Yep, things just got interesting. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/jul/01/chris-froome-blocked-signing-in-tour-de-france I expect this is mostly posturing and the appeal will go through.

I imagine if the appeal goes through and he actually races, they'll be dumping literal buckets of piss on him on the roads of France this summer

He'll get attacked.

He’s being a righteous prick and if it weren’t for an army of sky lawyers we’d probably have had a result already. Hope aso sticks to their guns, if they can refuse entry then they should.

To be fair, that Movistar rider who is an utter nobody had an AAF from January 2017 and that was literally only resolved last week. These things seem to be glacially slow on occasion. goatface posted:How many appeals cycles can they go through? French national body, UCI and then CAS? Anything more than French national body means it will be heard after the tour like with Sagans DQ. He won't be able to ride it and the french hate him so he wont be starting.

He’s still racing more XC WC this year and has said he’s doing CX again in the fall. Van Aert has had a better road season than him.

drat, I knew he was looking good on the road but I didn´t expect this good. Although looking back at how easily WvA adapted to the road earlier this season I shouldn´t be surprised. Also I think that most people expected that he would swift to road more permanently after Tokio 2020, but these kind of results might make him change those plans.

As much as froomes rivals are all (unsurprisingly) saying he shouldn't race, I bet they know deep down whoever wins will always have the small footnote mentioning he wasn't there next to it Especially if they eventually let him off

goatface posted:BBC are reporting that the UCI have dropped the case against Froome. Yeah think everyone was expecting them to just lose the case not drop it. UCI's judgement - http://www.uci.org/pressreleases/uci-statement-anti-doping-proceedings-involving-christopher-froome/ Seems they were convinced by Sky's latest submissions. Hope Sky publicly releases the data, or else there will always be question marks. At least WADA will be able to come up with ideas for a reliable test after their research. ukle fucked around with this message at 10:46 on Jul 2, 2018 |

The CyclingTips podcast quietly broke the news about the UCI ruling last week, which is why I suggested the ASO move was just posturing.ukle posted:UCI has to be paying out after this, the science behind it was flaky. Salbutamol is not water soluble so it is pretty difficult to accurately measure concentration at the desired resolution. Compound this with the affect racing for hours every day for 3 weeks has on your water weight and the fact that it’s hardly a PED, I’m surprised it took this long.
