Bad Machinery is easily one of my top favorites, but Tom's guest strip there with Mildred's giant hair is still my favorite.

Now I'm trying to think of the best characters in Tackleford for her to meet.

Is she in orbit or is this just her apogee? Because I can accept magic and elemental and antigravity but a stable orbit without circularising is just bullshit :argh:

Who says she's in orbit? She's probably just drifting off forever now.

According to the previous posts that's only possible if she's reached escape velocity! :science:

Good thing Jones' clothes are fireproof as well, we already have a moon.

Escape velocity is three thirty times the speed of sound, ignoring air resistance. Given that Annie was not annihilated by a sonic boom it can be assumed that Jones was placed in orbit rather than thrown.

I'm reminded of that time that Donny rolled out his rocket to microsat 5 and someone couldn't take the inaccuracies and wrote a multi-page post about how it was utterly impossible for a rocket that size to ever have enough fuel to make it to orbit and rendezvous and how even if they had one the right size it was impossible it wouldn't get picked up by authorities

And the two pages later they press launch and the rocket's warp drive zaps it into orbit.

Yesengrin is magic, guys.

Jones wasn't shot out of a cannon, she was magically accelerated. That she didn't create a sonic boom at ground altitude doesn't mean she didn't eventually reach escape velocity once already very high up.

Or... she's only been thrown out of Earth's atmosphere, not its orbit and eventually crash lands on Ysengrin.

It's hilarious to imagine word of the Space Woman spreading among amateur astronomy groups.

I don't know if you've spent any time among amateur astronomy groups, but they're...weird. Half of them would be scrambling to keep this secret until they could report it properly and make a name for themselves, the other half would spend more time arguing that it's a hoax, and a subset of both would think it was some government conspiracy and spend the next few weeks nervously looking over their shoulders.

Just another face in a gray pantsuit.
She did a good job cleaning up the place,
But the forest didn't like her
So they shot her into space!
