Have you gone over to BoardGameGeek to look at some reviews? They're gamers first and foremost so they will give a pretty good rundown of the actual mechanics.

FWIW I heard it's rather boring. I had Zombicide for a bit and the mechanics are similar.

Hammerhall is more like classic quest/advanced heroquest. The minis are all over the place I agree.

I enjoyed the one game of Zombiecide and I enjoyed the one game of Massive Darkness even more, which is fitting, considering that MD is fixed ZC.

Yeah, because it's an entirely new game system that doesn't rely on the 40K ruleset (yay!)

Also, looks like GSC and Skitarii. gently caress. I was hoping for either just a book release or a release with two armies I don't care about. I was looking forward to not having to spend anything until AT comes out...

EDIT: Son of a bitch. I really don't care for the exclusive cards that are only available if you purchase one of the KT starters. I have at least ten Burna Boyz - why would I want to purchase five more? I know someone will make a list, like they have done for NM, but man, that poo poo is annoying.

Yeah, I was basically hinting that I like both forces.

The playing surface size seems weird to me - why not go 24" x 36"? - but then I think that it would be nice to have table space for cards and game-related crap, so the board size winds up being kind of nice.

I think that's the weird size of their new Moonbase and the AoS boards.

I think the playing surface size is a concession to box size. As far as I'm aware, their biggest box is 11.5x17, so having the mat fold into 4 pieces each 11x15 would give you that 22x30 size, or fold down to half that size at 11x7.5 which would fit nicely into their slightly smaller 12x9 box that the killzone boxes appear to be, and that existing sector mechanicus terrain is packaged in.

Assuming that the rules seem amenable to different table sizes (which is likely since the FAQ says you can play on a 24x24 realm of battle tile) I'll likely play on 24x36 made of SWM tiles.

I wonder if it will stay at the $125 NM price point, or hit the $160+ price point, considering the amount of terrain in the box, not to mention two 10 man teams...

I may be giving GW too much credit, but I think they mean the expansion will be the only place to get the physical tactics cards. The FAQ says the books will have the full rules for all the factions. Like how the codexes have all the tactics for the army but you can still buy a pack of the army tactics.

I was ambivalent about he game but I might pick up the rulebook since the FAQ mentions the teased Rogue Trader game being an expansion for Kill Team.

I am excited for Kill Team—I haven’t touched a 40k model except to use as a proxy for almost 20 years. I can finally buy a box of Pathfinders or Death Guard and have a use for them. The level of support sounds great, but I’m not a huge fan of all the extra terrain in the war and sets.

I'm probably going to go for book, cards, and ~maybe~ that case - I have a thing for good looking model storage solutions, and that looks non-crappy.
I'm going to go Guard just like I did for SW:A so I'll keep my eyes open for a guard starter box in case I need the cards or whatever.

Overall it looks like a better release than SW:A or Necromunda, at least to me. I think they learned from both of those, so that's nice.
I like the sneaky reference to Inquisitor in there too.

So my idle prediction is that the next two big expansions for Kill Team after Rogue Trader will be Inquisitor and Space Hulk. Because why have a separate Space Hulk game when you can fold it into your general skirmish game and sell it via intercompatibility with all your other skirmish sets?

Won't Rogue Trader fill a similar niche to Space Hulk already though, of claustrophobic ship-based combat? It'll be interesting to see how Rogue Trader expands things beyond adding a Killzone.

Inquisitor has been confirmed to me, but Space Hulk is, to my understanding, not planned to be part of Kill Team.

No clue, I was referring to the previous releases and rereleases.

Since they've rereleased it every 5 years for the last 25 though, I think another version in 2019 seems likely.

I'm hype about Kill Team, because gently caress regular 40K, where are my heroic individually activated manz at. Also, I want that case - I already have the smallest GW case, and it's often too large for the stuff I carry around.

A bit sad about the starters being so... poo poo. Sure, they're not gonna cut up sprues to give us starters that are more than just "sprue of random unit-cards-random terrain." Also, the loving dice have symbols on 1s and 6s - how the base NM dice avoided that bullshit is beyond me.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting the space marine/wolves starter but honestly that terrain is kinda ugly and I think I'd rather just get the box of Reivers.

I want the crane in the ork box pretty bad, though.

I think the idea is that it assumes those are supplementary to the Sector Mechanicus Killzone. Same with the servos with the Orks, which are also their own SM kit.

We know that the Space Marines/Wolves box is Reivers, and the text mentions having a team featuring those plus scouts, a tac marine with a missile launcher and a primaris sergeant with a power sword.

No idea on the others yet.

The box is just a standard Reiver kit, and the text in question is just an example Kill Team. I don't think there's anything more than that out there yet.
