On the one hand, small businesses aren't the ones buying the entire government On the other hand, small businesses are often run by chuds who don't want to give their employees healthcare because they really want to get their kitchens redone this summer and if they bought healthcare they'd have to wait until at least autumn

I mean it depends. It's always hard to tell with political statements which game is being played. You could be saying you want to stick up for small business and have it mean you intend to go after big business for an example. And there's lots of leftist ways to help "small business", like providing welfare to unemployed people looking to start their own businesses (pipe dream as gently caress in the USA as this is), or providing government funded healthcare making it easier for small business to compete, etc. It could also just be some empty poo poo she said cause saying you want to help small business are magic words.

This is all the mental murkiness of my succ zone addled brain, but I swear to god, at some point I can think of some shitass small business tyrant that had like, a yoga studio or two, some lovely restaurant, and still called themselves a "small business owner." Truth be told, it's always the small business tyrants that are the worst because they're like, "don't you wanna see this business succeed?!?" as if you'd be reaping an equal share of the profits while they demand more and more from you. It's totally batshit.

On the other hand my dad is retiring next month and his boss offered to buy him a truck or van as a retirement present as dad currently drives a company van. A good small business owner can make working for someone else much more pleasant than working for some faceless corp. And the power dynamics are much less drastic when they have such a small pool of employees to work with. Everything being actual proper small businesses would probably be an improvement over massive companies owning everything. Which I guess only makes the tyrants more frustrating.
