Why no punting or throw ins?

1. to teach them to build up play from the back instead of the keeper punting and just smashing the fastest player forward to shoot (this is through U12)

2. 'they dont even know how to play yet and need to practice passing' (this is through U8)

For 1 - no offsides? 2 seems really dumb and not helpful. U8 is still 100% bumblebee soccer right? Doesn’t make sense.

Yeah, they’re going to resume on Monday.

The thing that has hit me is how many specialists and experts all over the world dropped whatever they were doing and flocked to Thailand to help. From what I understand nearly all the world’s expert cave divers are all over there.

It almost makes me reconsider my misanthropy.

Well, consider how many people have told those cave divers that they're absolutely insane and have completely impractical hobbies. Now they all suddenly get to do something really useful with it.

You also see it a lot any time there's a specialized rescue and recovery operation.

Like, there are a finite number dogs around the world that're trained to sniff out humans amidst rubble. So whenever there's a major earthquake, all those good boys get loaded onto planes and flown to where they're needed.

I was talking to a bloodhound breeder who had some of her dogs in the 9/11 body recovery. They came back all sorts of physically (like little to no hair on their lower half) and mentally hosed up. I guess S&R dogs are trained with the expectation that the bodies will play with them. She hasn't done the training deal since.

Dogs were getting mentally hosed up because even though they found a lot of corpses, their handlers were getting more and more morose giving the dogs mixed emotional signals.

The depression of the dogs finding only corpses led to some of rescuers lying behind some rubble to the dogs could “rescue” some living people.

This light reminds me of the story about how they (temporarily) blinded a bunch of cast and crew during the filming of Blade 2 by misusing UV lights. I can't find any articles on it, so I'm pretty sure I heard it on a podcast with either Ron Perlman or Guillermo Del Toro.

Yeah, I think they found some lamps they thought would look cool for the club scene, turns out they were UV decontamination lamps?
A quick google isn't turning anything up for me either.

And nobody could figure out why they were sick until they brought in a local doctor who recognised the lamps.
