I like Hollow Knight but that "find your ghost again after you die, but if you die before doing that you lose all your money" mechanic can get absolutely hosed. Respawning at a bench five miles away from where you died is punishment enough.

In an old hotel being remodeled into a culinary school, the masons found a "secret" room. It was just this void that had been blocked around and they found it while busting out an old wall. I went in early one morning and etched that phrase into the old block with a rock. So there's probably like 15 buildings around the city with it written somewhere behind the wall or under the floor

It was worse in Shovel Knight because if you fell into a bottomless pit your gold sacks would float above it and nine times out of ten at least one bag would not be recoverable

i never have to deal with my ghost in hollow knight, because i never die (except fighting dream world superbosses) i did come close to dying once when one of those big shelled guys who swing at you wildly and give you like two seconds to hit them before they knock off a ton of your health pushed me into a corner and i kept slipping back down to the left whenever i tried to dash over them but. i survived

The key to mental peace with the Dark Souls/Hollow Knight death mechanics is to understand that the Geo/Souls you are carrying are not yours. You're just borrowing them for awhile.
