You know what I fuckin hate about reddit? The weird inability to just let a thing suck. Take r/shittyfoodporn or r/shittyrecipegifs. Say someone posts some godawful dudebro concoction where it’s poutine but with the french fries replaced with loaded bacon potato skins and the cheese curds replaced with entire baby loaves of pepper jack and the gravy is just hot lard, most of the comments will always be variations on “stop I can only get so erect” or “I’ll be in my bunk” or “I’d try it for science.” The “hahahaha I’m so depressed” thing has combined itself with “what’s wrong with cargo shorts,” and the result is thousands of people who join a laugh at a thing board to demand explanations of why the thing in question should be laughed at.

As though (I assume?) the entire movie wasn't already about the heroes literally fighting him because he wanted to do something terrible. No no, she needed her on-screen linguistic masturbatory DISCOURSE (). She was an insufferable know-it-all who opined her social commentary loudly and abrasively every single chance she got. Nobody could stand her and she thought that was a good thing because women are historically oppressed. Be that as it may in many cases, why would being a pain in everyone else's rear end right those wrongs? sigh. I don't miss that workplace.

Please be normal Way back in the day when those anti fat women subs were about and MRA was gaining traction I was a mod in the sewing and quilting subreddits, which were small and tight knit little subs with women showing themselves wearing tea dresses and discussing fabric and thread. I don’t know if they recovered but the massive influx of dick heads that hit them after one wedding dress post got to the bottom of the front page just killed them stone dead. They found the women and thousands of arseholes just went on full on attack mode, they downvotes everything and every post had a solid wall of insults or creepy stalker poo poo.

It used to be that nerds were into poo poo that was obscure enough that making a long, extended and esoteric joke was part of the joke itself since it was something only your own nerd group was likely to understand. Now they're left with their nerd signalling in a culture where their poo poo is largely mainstream so you get abortive attempts at humor like that thing.

Better than trust fund kids with $50k+ game collections begging me to like and subscribe to their YouTube videos because they are Professional Content Creators™. DID YOU KNOW SUPER MARIO BROS 2 WAS ORIGINALLY A GAME CALLED DOKI DOKI PANIC like n sub leave a comment below Reddit has been like a boil on my rear end for over ten years now. When I was in college, a friend of mine told me about Reddit and I watched it sprout from an interesting slashdot-esque knockoff into the Crazy Clubhouse that it is today. I genuinely enjoyed the website for a year or two until people started talking about narwhals and bacon. It completely exploded around 2009-2010. Now it's just Marvel movie ads and bots trying to agitate social classes/incite instability via t_d/greatawakening with sprinkles of mens rights activists, 25-minute-long recipe gifs, and lovely webcomics on top. There are tons of services out there where you pay some Malaysian click farm $100-200 and your poo poo is just on the front page of the sixth most popular website on the internet. You can leave a top-rated comment with hundreds of replies and then edit the comment to say whatever you want without any repercussions. Your posts aren't even deleted if you delete them, just hidden, so if you actually want to delete a post you need to edit it with garbage data and then delete it. Presumably they still have copies of the original post in case they get subpoenas. It took them like 3 years and a CNN report by Anderson Cooper to finally start getting rid of some of the taboo subreddits but somehow, in 2018, they're totally powerless to contain the content on their own website. Instead of fixing any of the issues, they just keep making their website function worse and worse in an attempt to get people to download applications on their phones. we did it, reddit
