Not worried about this. This is been in the cards since election day when Elrich was in the lead. Yet between then and now, she didn't manage to pull any of the local democratic establishment to her side, given that when the results were finally certified in Elrich's favor, a bunch of local Democrats immediately instead of waiting for Floreen to file

Also, Lieberman beat Lamont by winning Republican votes. There's already a Republican running in this race. He's the person who should be concerned by her as a spoiler, not Elrich

actually, they have lots of real power. this just removes their ability to directly vote for the presidential nomination. there are still lots of other things they can do, it's just that those aren't nearly as exposed to the public eye because they're not directly related to the presidential election, and therefore aren't getting any backlash

The answer under Bloomberg and Blas has been to throw shitloads of dollars at charter schools which are either the educational equivalent of the private prison industry or hippy dippy bourgious liberal projects that attempt to implement columbia university style, if you know what i'm saying, theoretical practices in the classroom which end up alienating and tokenizing minority and poor students.

To elaborate, charter schools were hailed by their most well meaning proponents as laboratories in which best practices could be developed and then generalized into the DOE system. The push to implement a network of "progressive" charter schools in places like northern brooklyn kind of makes sense as a project if you look at it from this angle. It's been a decade and a half since the push began and Charter Schools have been almost entirely coopted by the Success Academy franchise model which takes the money it gets for operating from the state, cuts the management a nice fat check and runs the school on bare minimum budgets and a worked to death hosed over faculty. Unsurprisingly, the "progressive" charter schools are also massively guilty of overpaying their directors and management teams and spending ungodly dollars on ivory tower consultants.

Some people try really hard to avoid the reality that they live in a community. It leads to some strange worldviews like libertarianism, where a skilled doctor specializing in sinus cancer will appear from the æther when you wave $300 in the air while reposed upon your deathbed.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could become the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. Amma Campa Najjar is the first Latino-Arab American to launch a Congressional run. Gabriel Acevero will be the first openly gay man of Afro-Latino descent with a seat in the Maryland House of delegates if elected in November.

All of these candidates are fighting tooth and nail for a seat at the table, but doing so with a slate of progressive policies. Some are long-shot races. But, the larger aim? To reshape the Democratic Party from the inside out.

“Political movements expand the range of what is possible, and in my opinion they can change public opinion,” Mr Acevero told The Independent. “Our Revolution is a political movement, and its message resonates with a broad swath of Americans … At a time when working families are seeing stagnant wages, corporate wealth and an attack on our values, progressive Americans are coming together and fighting to take back our country."
