The Imperialists will also unite Iberia, but also get us ready for that good good colonizing game that's about to kick off, and the train to which we definitely do not want to miss. Plus, commerce techs are really good and we got a good amount of army research in already during this past war (certainly enough to kick Morocco's rear end again).

Africa doesn't open up until the 1870s, we should focus on our backyard first. I do agree that after we retake Iberia we should go for colonies. Besides Africa, one of the smaller Chinese states would probably be easy to beat up, and would provide a nice counterbalance to the Moroccan Raj.

Imperialists come next vote is gonna be the pro move, but making sure we stay ahead in the army arms race and do a quick blitz unification that preserves our soldier pops is the most important thing here, I think. Like we did alright that last war and eventually drove them off, but they still occupied some lands and made us bleed for a couple of assaults. Imagine running that back but we have another three or four techs on them. They'd get all their poo poo stackwiped and we'd have been able to occupy enough of Leon/Quatalunia to put a war goal down to eat them, all for less pop deaths on our end. Having good enough army techs works for the defensive, but you really want a huge qualitative gap if you're gonna be going aggro. edit: Hash, has Palmero gained any significant backing -- either influence or allies -- since the start? I.e. if Royalists were to take power would a day one intervention be feasible? actual edit: also please spend less on bureaucrats you're gonna encourage them to be 5% of the pop

I really want a more militant faction to take advantage of Morocco's weakness, but I'm still afraid of the retrograde social policies that entails. France may have lacked respect for Andalusi ambitions on the peninsula, but drat if they didn't sweep the floor with Morocco's European allies! If everything goes well, I can imagine Morocco getting pushed back into Africa with the next war. Speaking of which, what's going on with South Africa? Is another of Morocco's colonies slipping from its grasp?

If you want colonies, you have to vote Imperialists in this election. Due to the time it takes to research and build the ports we need to claim African colonies it is imperative we do so in the 56-66 term. If we elect Imperialists next term there will simply not be any time to first research the port level techs and then upgrade the ports, which takes literally years. So unless you vote Imperialists now it's very unlikely we'll be able to grab a significant chunk of Africa.

But if we want to declare on them as soon as possible, we'd have to fabricate a CB, which would take some time. An alternative would be to wait for that event to pop up again (it'll pop up every few years, so long as Palermo is democratic), and choose the infamy-free option to intervene, forcing them into our sphere. That could mean waiting for years potentially, however, during which they could get allies.

I've already brought clergy and bureaucrats up to par, so I've been trying to increase our clerks, which is proving difficult because I started us with very few. Royalists Our economy isn't strong enough for the LF of the Imperialists to work for us. Also, that french truce pulling us out of the war supporting Qattalun was bullshit and I would have save edited at that point to keep us at war with Morrocco in that war -it made no sense otherwise.
