As much as congress likes to pretend to be concerned and not actually do anything, you know who would get pretty loving pissed off if we unilaterally just left NATO? Defense contractors and such. For a man in his position, and his social exposure, coupled with the fact he got set up for life about 25 years ago, it doesn't smell right. If anything else, he should've been coached in debt exposure as a part of his job. I know some sensitive jobs have periodic check ins, and I can't see why he wasn't included or counseled on it.
