Just read a semi interesting reply about Japanese farming culture in Florida and the first few replies turned it into a meme about Starcraft.

You can find -some- good, or at least informative comments in some of the more topical subreddits, but every thread that's not in a properly-moderated subreddit like Science or AskHistorians inevitably reaches a point where a top level comment is completely worthless. I call this the inflection point and it's your signal to stop reading. 75% of the time on the popular subs it's the first one.

Reddit is valuable only when I have a specific or technical question that someone else has likely already asked and had answered, a la Stack Exchange. And porn of course!

I watch a lot of nature documentaries. I like tierzoo because I can see it as a viable way to get kids interested in nature. Its a novel approach to the genre. At least its based on information unlike that idiot Cody guy who stings himself with bullet ants then films himself writhing in pain for 10 minutes.

Really, it only takes 5 people to make it so you're opinion, by defualt, wont show up to everyone else. This creates a silencing system to dissenting opinions, on a website the preeches free speech. Example: "Nazi's are bad" [-4] "Nazi's are good" [4] Guess which opinion is automatically going to be validated? That's right, the brave Redditor who says there are only two genders.

So, a redditor develops a concience and shuts down one of the biggest GG-cesspools, r/Kotakuinaction. He is then de-modded and the forum is reinstated by reddit in less than a day. Something something free speech I guess. http://nymag.com/selectall/2018/07/reddit-kotaku-in-action-founder-regrets-gamergate-forum.html

It's Liberal, not liberal
|
# ? Jul 14, 2018 15:03 |
I wouldn't say it's liberal so much as filled with teenagers who are (understandably) nervous about their ability to make a decent living 5-10 years from now when they move out. The ones that do succeed won't lean liberal anymore. They are definitely not compassionate/empathetic people for the most part.
|
|
# ? Jul 14, 2018 15:12 |
|
Teenage boys as a group have never really been known for empathy, that tends to develop when they get out of high school and are forced to have adult conversations in real life. Unfortunately reddit is an echo chamber, and in this new internet era its easy to get socially trapped with people with very narrow world views and very little real life experience. They either quit reddit when they realise how immature people posting on there are, or get worse. Source! Screecheth the redditor.

That guy actually does alot of really cool videos where he just talks about and films cool and weird animals in tide pools and jungles and stuff. His sting videos are incredibly stupid though.
