I wouldn't say it's "well known", but most people in the Lower Mainland know about it. It's sort of the last regular sized town before you start heading into the interior through the Coquihalla or old Crowsnest Highway. As soon as I saw "small town, near the edge of where the Rockies start to rise up, overcast skies" I knew... must be Hope.
