Wasn't Rise supposedly the "optimal" choice for vanilla P4 because she gave you a -50% SP accessory during your Christmas date, which you could use in the "secret" actually final dungeon? Golden added an additional dungeon with which to use said accessory, IIRC. But then again, you're not choosing a waifu and doing the Christmas date for the accessory and the optimum choice, you're doing it just for the waifu. Leraika posted:

Rise was actually the optimal girlfriend in 4, yes. Also there's a "most convenient" choice for NG+ but nothing worth actually choosing someone for.

drat, I honestly wouldn't have the patience to play through this game, I played some of p3 hosed up on dissociatives then visited spent some time at a local college and that made it too real. Thanks for this thread, Arist, it would be too stressful to try to 100% the first time and less fun when not mixing it up with the real world. I started reading this thread at a lovely job and caught up with it again while unemployed, and I've definitely enjoyed some of the references you've made. Cool thread, SSLPs are way easier to follow than VLPs when your internet time is fragmented like mine.

There are a lot of characters in this that would have made good gay romances but the director is pretty homophobic Persona is really weird as a series since it can be good about it or Extremely Bad depending on the day. Like Jun in 2 was gay and you could date him, and P4 had Yusuke, but P5 has terrible poo poo like the creepy dudes who hit on Ryuji or the transphobia in 3. As in you could remove them from the cutscenes and just make them more npcs who hang around town and the game would be a better product.
