Suddenly I'm seeing that while conservatives obviously want to turn back time to their imagined golden age, centrist liberals think they can freeze time in the end of history and exist in the same capitalist order forever. Leftists are the only ones acknowledging that there will be a future in which there are consequences for past and present actions.

tammy is correct in that a pick that promises to overturn Roe would radicalize a good amount of suburban wine moms whose lives would be greatly disrupted if they have to fly to Canada for their daughter's moral abortion instead of making a discrete appointment a few towns over what tami doesn't realize and the GOP does is that they haven't won popular vote more than once in a whole generation and yet they still control everything, her mistake is in assuming that getting votes has anything to do with getting power there's gonna be a case on the docket within 10 minutes of the next turbo chud being appointed too, because Dems ain't gonna slow it down and they'll probably even vote for them, because they're cowards

i think a lot of the "stop minorities at all costs" thing that has ramped up recently is pretty much a result of what happened to the gop in CA in the last 2 decades before the dem supermajority they basically had all the power since they could stop everything due to the 2/3 rule to do anything which caused dems to comprise way loving more than they should have then prop 187 happened because the rural chuds and their politicians started saying the quiet parts out loud and the typically apolitical hispanic population got super motivated to the point where the gop is a third party in CA now the national gop saw this and got a head start on the racism because while demographics are still going to gently caress them the gop in CA waited to long to ramp up the racism before it could really solidify their power but those white suburbanites have never stopped voting for republicans, their votes just became irrelevant due to demographics what im saying is that anyone who thinks white suburbanites will save the country is dumb and wrong. hillary made that mistake (as well as many, many other ones) so when you think that white suburbanites will do anything but vote gop for any reason ever remember a simple thing what would bernie do?

re: rigging and gerrymandering - a political system is only a stable as long it is seen as legitimate. the GOP can gerrymander everything forever in their favor, but if they're forced to go to increasingly absurd lengths to do that, they are all going to end up hanging, in the end. those who make peaceful revolution impossible, make violent revolution inevitable, and so on. Politics is downstream from economics, not culture, and poo poo is only going to get worse.

Like yeah the government tries to Madmen things wrt women's rights, but yet women there are hella educated, socially assertive (compare how female the 2009 protests were compared to most of the Arab street protests in 2011), and their fertility rates are basically similar to first world democracies. Like I feel that's more reflective of the Republican mission's fate. Even with lots of power, pushing their regressions through, too many cats are out of too many bags, too much of the country is fiercely global and modern.
