He has turned his head to look as he walks past. But there's no link between the different elements of the composition. What is the narrative here? Your other picture above, is just a mess of disparate elements and somebody walking through a doorway, there's no sense of composition in either image. There's nothing to draw the eye in, no striking and obvious subject and no feeling that the shot was deliberately designed to show us anything.
