Hell it was only from examination of those records that people eventually realized that the only thing that didn't fit the model was the sun/earth relationship itself.

Ive just made the mistake of going into the paradox forums and reading the autism posted there. Basically a bunch of morons espousing propaganda for the country/group of cities they want to play as. I might understand this poo poo in the context of a big MP game with tons of people trying to turn opinion against another group, but these games are for the most part single player focused. I’m reminded of some very cringy adults rping with plushies.

Steel, rifling and many other things were well known before industrialization, but it took the ability to mass produce steel and fabricate it in a big way, to say, make large rifled cannons or modern turreted armored warships, even though many of these things could exist beforehand. Technology is a very multifaceted thing.

I really appreciate all the input so far on this mod, wanting to make sure it finds that fine line between fun and realism. I am really glad to see all the discussion and interest that has been generated. Here are the updated Trade Goods list. Blank cells are simply cells I haven't been able to find info on/haven't come up with anything yet. Thoughts/suggestions? Also, I setup a subreddit like all the cool mods have and posted my first "dev diary". I will probably keep most updates over there, but I hope I can still turn to here on occassion because, let's face it, goons are actually pretty cool (except for when they aren't) and comments on reddit are just the worst. But it makes a good platform for something like this. Reveilled posted:If you've got any interest in reading about the practicalities of a post-apocalyptic world, I'd recommend The Knowledge by Lewis Dartnell as a really interesting book on the topic. It's a sort of pop-science book that goes through the basics of what you'd need to restart society--basic chemistry and metallurgy, medicine and electricity. Thank you for this recommendation. I'm going to put a hold on it at the library and will pick it up soon.

Finally wrapped up the edited map tonight (turns out it still needs some more editing), and now I've begun laying down the rivers. Here's a full-scale shot from my working file: Once the rivers are done, it will be time to start adding cities/provinces.

Holy gently caress. I guess they must have improved the engine a bunch in order to cope with such a dense map. And the grey parts are wasteland, right? Not simply waiting to be filled out with even more provinces?

Dev diary: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/imperator-development-diary-9-23rd-of-july-2018.1111789/ Thoughts: Aggressive Expansion is a little hard to read, but not to such a degree that I've ever felt it was a problem. And I very, very much like the fact that it can vary wildly country to country depending on what you're doing and what they care about. I definitely would not like to sacrifice the latter in the hope of solving the former. Unless all we're talking about here is a little topbar number telling you what your highest AE with any country is. Or "average (highest)". That could work? Also: yay! Defensive leagues! And all this impassable terrain makes me hard: e: loving lol, a 7000 province budget and India still gets shafted. KOGAHAZAN!! fucked around with this message at 10:02 on Jul 23, 2018 |

Kinda seems like there's a weirdly large amount of wasteland, especially east of Turkey. Also yeah lol at India looking like it's getting shafted but honestly these days it would be weird if there was a Paradox game that wasn't highly Eurocentric.
