DeGea would have gone for about £50m a couple of seasons ago I reckon if Utd hadn't had "Fax issues".

Buffon went for what was considered alot back in the day didnt he?

Buffon was a massive aberration in terms of goalkeeper fees. He cost £33m back in 2001 and it wasn't until Manchester City bought Ederson last season that the record was broken. It was never even really close to getting broken. Manuel Neuer and David De Gea were both sold for ~£19m in 2011 and that was probably the closest to Buffons fee until last summer when Ederson and Pickford were both sold for higher fees.

I mean, Spurs paid £10m for Lloris in 2012.

It really seems like it's going that way.

I'd have confidence in Juve or Real Madrid or Bayern breaking world records and it looking like a masterstroke, but this is Liverpool we're talking about.

Incredible. This in a league where Fabianski could've been had for under 10m and they'd get at least another 3 or 4 good years out of him.

Fabianski went for 7m but also he's old and has proven himself to not be capable at the highest level

With Schmeichel, Liverpool would finally have a league winner in the dressing room instead of a stable of bridesmaids.

Have we considered that Alisson is just a very pretty man and the price reflects that? Also, we're definitely paying a Salah tax to Roma.

Good signing imo.

I’m a bit surprised Liverpool didn’t go for Schmeichel.

He managed to deal with Swansea hiring his old Arsenal coach (after his first world class season with Arsenal's new goalkeeping coach Javier Garcia). Eventually. There were six months where he went back to flapping at everything. gently caress Tony Roberts enjoy China you oval office.

He'd do better at a big club now than he did at Arsenal, where the lack of red meat meant he kept getting injured (hasn't missed a game in 3 years or something, now) and there was always massive pressure to impress on rare starts. West Ham have played a blinder getting him.

Alveolar fibrosis don't give a damn.
Sum total, signing some attacking depth and a keeper for ~£80m is not ludicrous. I don't think we would have spent that kind of money without the value Shaqiri represented for the club.

That said, I don't see how Alisson is valued at that level and am very afraid we now own two Karius's.

They agreed to sell Courtois because he's got a year left on his deal and has been romanticizing the idea of going back to live in Madrid to be with his kids ever since they were born. He would be gone on a free after this season.
