From what I remember, there was a book in the Mechwarrior series that introduced a species of bird-aliens. The Mechwarrior fandom loving hates it and likes to pretend it doesn't exist. So of course the goon guild decided they were a guild of the bird aliens and roleplayed it every chance they got.

It got to the point they wanted to make saying 'Squawk' in game banable. MWO players hated Word of Lowtax with a fiery passion.
