Yes, Toronto is such an outlier unlike Utah's reverence of it's Jazz scene, Los Angeles' notorious Trolly Dodgers, Pittsburgh's surplus of Penguins, and New England having any actual Patriots.

The Jazz were originally from New Orleans, Dodgers from Brooklyn, Pens get it for illiteration and Pengiuns being arctic animals so it works. Raptors is just incredibly silly.

The NBA wouldn't let them change their name to Express, as in Federal Express.

Also, here's a great story about how very close the Nets came to changing their name to Swamp Dragons. Includes plenty of peak 90s sports design.

That's my argument. The names of teams are a pointless exercise in forgotten legacies and cheap memorable branding. It's all silly, and what's sillier is you taking a stand against a city naming their sports team after something legitimately cool.

Barcode Battlers is an idea due for a 21st century do-over on smartphones. Some kind of AR thing, maybe like Pokemon Go with monsters seeded in the real world, and you try and find some kickass warriors from barcodes to go over and take them down. Ooh, make it modular so your scans generate warriors, and tons of separate gear items. There could be a real scavenger hunt aspect going on, I'd play the gently caress out of something like this.

There's going to be at least 500 players who build an entire army from a sex shop inventory.

Also, remember the like huge endcaps at like Target or Walmart where they'd have a huge display with speakers that would let you pick different tracks to listen to and then just racks and racks of CDs.

I guess those may still exist but I haven't seen them in a long time. They used to be full of all kinds of generic music, there was that one you posted, but then also just like "babbling brooks" and "sounds of nature" and "woods at night" stuff like that, random celtic tunes, you couldn't really hock that stuff today with pandora and youtube existing.

Eeeh I'm not so sure about that.
With the current attitude games have these days the magic would be instantly sucked out of it. Someone would find the perfect barcodes/QR codes, post them online and that's all the fun of the game gone in an instant.

I was in an elevator or something that was playing Lily Was Here, and it was driving me nuts trying to think of where I knew that song from. It's on this CD, they play the main riff when the 1-800 number comes up on screen. Had some perfect sync up on our nostalgia cycles.
