My daughter was coming home last night and passed a dog wandering the street, dragging a chain with it. Her collar didn't have a tag on it so she loaded her up and brought her home: She and my wife took her to the vet to see if she was microchipped and to put up a found dog poster. No luck on the chip but they said she's in good health. Sorry for the bad quality but this is the only pic they sent. Edit: her people were found and she was returned home. Cute thread, I bring you vicious gladiatorial bloodsport!  This is the first time we've ever seen Shooter (the german shepherd) playing with another dog. He usually grudgingly tolerates them at best. But Tron's his little buddy now. Particularly nice considering he hated Tron when I first brought him over.

Yesterday I volunteered at local animal shelter and got some cute pics: Puppy!     I walked more than two dogs but it was really hard to take decent pics of them as they never stood still     Same with cattes, there was about 14 of them in the room (all of them super friendly!) but they refused to look at the camera    Will go again in a week!

My mother is a social worker at an inpatient facility for schizophrenia patients. Today she brought my parents' lab Charlie to work so that the patients can interact with him, it helps with their anxiety and of course with the general stress of being in one of those kind of places where you're locked in and can't decide on your own to leave. Anyway, for obvious reasons I'm not going to post pictures of actual patients, but I think from this pic you can tell how much Charlie enjoys being there, he loves people!

I like frogs. We get them a lot up here in Wisconsin, especially when it's humid or rainy out. And since I'm a night-owl, my light is on, so when it's humid out late I get frogs camping out right on my window to catch the bugs that fly near the light. It's great fun to watch.

One of my best memories from elementary school was finding some palm bush thing in the recess area that had several of those green tree frogs in it if you knew where to look. Unfortunately showing girls my secret frog spot wasn't a very good romantic technique. Toads on the other hand, those guys can get pretty ornery.

You want to know what I think is the most amazing thing about service dogs? They've no idea that they're doing a job. They don't do what they do because they have to, or because they're aware of the importance of their work. They're just out for an amazing adventure where they get to go out with their best mate, sniff interesting things, and when they find the most interesting thing their best mate gets really happy and makes a fuss of them. Sometimes there's even treats. But the main thing is it makes their friend happy and that's all they actually want out of their day.

So one of my favorite online time wasters is a 24/7 livestream from an animal shelter that's set up cameras in its kitten rooms, and today they got in a new mama cat and her three newborn kittens who they set up another camera for.
