It's retro kinda I think. But The 90s had some interesting mashups of club baselines mixed with random other styles of music. Found a few tapes that my parents used to listen to (most likely high as gently caress) and loving them. drat they are just soo soothing to have as background music. Deep Forest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovwGCpx8ecY Enigma: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSvaRuKhZJk Probably shaped my taste in music slightly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvYRYCIAKZo EDIT: Found the War of the Worlds Tapes about right in the memories!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tM-Ww_eGLU Humphreys has a new favorite as of 12:48 on Jul 20, 2018 |

The fact that there's a whole community of this, including several independently written simulators, is a fact that shouldn't surprise me but does.

I remember Enigma's Return to Innocence was playing pretty much everywhere back in 94. My old folks used to listen the poo poo out of Deep Forest's Boheme as well, and so do I sometimes nowadays.

I couldn't escape Enya's Orinoco Flow as a child, so much so, that when it popped up in the American re-make of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I died laughing.

I was working an internship on Maui in the summer of 2007 and, near as I can tell, somebody rented the house that shared a wall with ours for the weekend and spent the whole time 1. loving and 2. playing Orinoco Flow on repeat. They seemed to take an occasional break from the loving but Enya never stopped

I love Enya but yeah, that song can be grating. It's like the one non-polyphonic song she did, too, so it stands out particularly.
