Yeah--outside of the tournament, you could just bid points to buy units from other players' kill teams, but during a tournament they'd all go play for their home teams

How does GW handle pre-orders release times? Will Kill Team be available for pre-order at midnight UK time, or at some random point tomorrow?

It seems to be around 10am UK time for pre-orders generally, not sure on the official time-line though

You could make a Death Guard Kill team with 7 bog standard plague knights or 6 with plenty of weapon options plus maybe a poxwalker or two - I don't think any of the kill teams need every unit to be playable.

It will just change your tactics I guess.

I wasn't sure if this would be an option, to be honest. I was thinking certain units might be limited to X models, guess I mixed up rules where you have like a Champion / 2 Specialism-ists (?) / A few other random mooks in that unit.

Most units have an option for regular and gunner versions (and leaders) that get special weapons. On top of that you can make them specialists (even the basic versions) which gives that model bonuses and access to new tactics.

For some forces you might need to take multiple different units for a good weapon selection but I think thats mostly the teams that will be fielding 10 or more models.

Obviously I don't have the game, just what I've picked up.

Played a 2k game against IG/Blood Angels. I played House Raven Knights and Raven Guard. Castellan/Crusader/Punchknight with two hammer captains on bikes with 3 units of sniper scouts with cloaks.

I deployed my scouts on a few objectives pushed up near his deployment burying them in cover. I went first and knocked his shadowsword into its bottom bracket and deleted a few infantry units. Got a mortal wound in on his warlord with scouts.

His turn one he got a wound on my warlord with Pask, and used overlapping fields of fire to pump his bracketed shadowsword up, dealing about 30 damage and obliterating my warlord.

I managed to finish off the shadowsword, and my captains allowed me to get supremacy for d3 and I defended another. He hammered my other two Knights, but they dodged Mephiston and this Sanguinary Guard failed to get any wounds on the Punchknight.

I ended up killing Pask, and he was depleted enough that even with 2 badly damaged Knights, he wouldn't be able to catch up the victory point race.

I really liked the SM addition to the army, and I'm just gonna test Captains with shield, hammers, and jump packs to see if I like them better than the bike option. Being able to push out on deployment with scouts seems very valuable in the game of area denial.

It's not even great for that - the printouts are gigantic and it either leaves out critical stuff or has page breaks in the middle of poo poo or like, Azrael's Warlord Trait is "Grand Stragegist". It works, I guess, and I don't want to poo poo all over what must have been a huge amount of work, but it's not as nice as having proper data sheets. Speaking of which:

This is me spending a weekend with TheChirurgeon coming up with a list visualization thing based off BattleScribe's output (I posted the link in Discord, but feel free to gently caress with it), and parsing that output was a real motherfucker. I still can't get the unit model counts out of it (eg "This unit contains 7 Tacticals, 1 Plasma Gunner...") because their data is structured so loving weird, and no amount of parsing can deal with the inconsistency of how units are entered even within the same codex, let alone handle whatever yabbo decided while setting up different books.

This is cool, and I have to chime in also complaining about the Battlescribe format. They don't seem to actually have a schema defined anywhere, there's one listed at the top of the file that just goes nowhere. It looks like you decided to parse the HTML output instead of the XML, is there a reason you didn't use the XML?

Just a heads up, the fangs are a five man Reiver squad, which may or may not be a turn on for people. You do get special cards and rules to make them space wolves, but I don't think there's any customising bitz.

Niche product being sent to a niche country (I assume Australia). Conversion is like $1.35 from usd now as well so it's not like the mark up is brutal if you buy from a local shop rather than GW.

E: like the killteam box is $130usd (GW) and you can get it for $185aud (flgs), which is a ten dollar difference ultimately and if you work in retail you earn $15 more per hour than an American.

The cards don't seem to be a shuffle and draw thing - they look like a reference more than anything. Yes I know half of them aren't in the book - but I'm fairly sure reddit will have the missing tactics before you've finished naming your kill team.

Easier for people to find in the UI, basically, and also it doesn't respect any of the visualization options like the other export options do - I needed it to be consistent, and the "Save as HTML" button seemed like the only one that doesn't let the end user gently caress with the output. I thought about trying to futz with the .rosz files directly, but they're apparently some weird-rear end binary format.

I started down that path of using one of the output formats, but after some digging I found out rosz files are just zip files with an XML roster inside.

TSons get 2+ saves against a ton of weapons and they can all have flamers. If they're around people are going to have to build to counter them with high-damage weapons and mortal wound spam.

Both can take auto hit weapons. Orks can take 3 point dudes to go and sit on objectives.
