Half the posters in this forum have been made up. This website is a goddamn ghost town.
Oh well, Timothy Olyphaunt is currently an executive producer of one of my favorite shows right now, and Sutter is trying to make a lovely spin-off of his lovely show.

DrVenkman posted:

Whenever Kurt Sutter's name comes up, the first thing I think of is his weird hate for JUSTIFIED and how they made Timothy Olyphant a producer on the show. He kept talking about how actors should never be involved in the creative process because it's nothing but an ego move for themselves until Graham Yost pointed out that a lot of the side-characters got more to do because Olyphant pushed for it and also that Chiklis became a producer on THE SHIELD (Sutter's answer to that was that Chiklis 'knew his place').

The best part was watching Sutter pull that poo poo after writing the most insulting, self-indulgent cop-out of a season finale I had ever seen. If Justified is what vanity looks like then I’ll gladly take it over Sutter’s ”pure artistic vision.”

So is the Buffy reboot the same kind of reboot as the currently-airing Hawaii Five-O and MacGyver shows and (I presume) the forthcoming Charmed reboot, or is it a reboot in the same way as Jurassic World or Force Awakens, where it's going back to the same setting but not doing the story over? I think I would be more interested in the latter.

(Also, are reboots and remakes considered different things? I use the terms interchangeably and may be wrong to do so.)

It's the former, from the sound of it. Someone new playing Buffy, not some new character.

It starts a little slow with the first few episodes but I'm on episode 5 and it's settled into a nice rhythm. Also apparently episode 7 has a bonkers premise and is amazing.

It's solid from the very first episode. It's written really well.

Depends on if you want intelligently well written characters, good performances, and two really good leads or if you’re just looking for another comic book show with heroes and villains. If you want the latter, skip it.

Season 2 of Broadchurch would be a lot better if it wasn't for these two morons from the previous case who keep standing around dramatically, yelling, and having angry sex. I keep hoping the one that's obviously the murderer kills the other so they'll be in fewer scenes.

Weird, I would've sworn Katey Sagal was a lesbian. Is there an alternate world where these kind of ideas come from that's maybe seeping into our universe?

I skipped the second season of Broadchurch entirely when the murderer from the first season plead not guilty in the trial. Third season was okay though.

I like a good courtroom drama, but this was not one. They had a prosecutor who was supposed to be the best in the business, but what she did was complain a lot outside of court and never object or present evidence or do anything else that could help win a case. And then she was very surprised that she lost.

And then they found out who the killer was in the case that had been haunting Tennant and his motivation was literally the exact same as the killer from season 1.

I'm glad S3 is finally coming out but has there been any explanation for the almost two year gap between seasons? Even though we're supposedly in Peak TV©, it feels like a lot of shows disappear for longer stretches of time.

Success!

Was Man in The High Castle a book originally? Sometimes (at least IMO) shows take longer for a season to come out once they out outpace the source material, they stumble a little coming up with ‘new’ content.

Like Walking Dead, that poo poo’s spent the last few seasons with idiots puttering around and taking forever to do a thing because they’re rapidly approaching the end of the source material they can crib off of (well, that and their showrunner blows).
