It's hard to leave a couple players out there but I think one will get back to me for sure and I need to fill my top six. The Blackhawks select Valentin Zykov, a 23 year-old garbage goal madman who led the AHL in goals last year despite playing 63 games. Carolina just signed him to an ELC and all signs point to him being in the lineup this season. I know I have two rookies in the top six but I think one is a slam-dunk and the other (Zykov) is going to be very solid. Hall-Larkin-Zykov Tolvanen-Zibanejad-Eberle ???-Faksa-??? Provorov-Severson (I've been convinced) Ekholm-Pionk

Before I drafted Weber I was like man I got tons of cap space. I still have 30 million. Thats before I realized Hanifin wasnt signed. So maybe a little early for him but he'll be a poor 3c good 4c on my team for this year and he has some upside. If only he could learn to win some drat faceoffs. Gotta manage that salary cap now before i end up like that team that couldnt dress 20 players for like 2 weeks a couple years ago Pavel Zacha

Zacha took a pretty significant step forward late in the season. Certainly overdrafted compared to who came after him but I think he would be very good in a 3C role.

I feel like he's a smart player but he's one of those guys who is really big but doesn't play like it. He doesn't have the raw tools and the body to be the kind of quick finesse player he should be - at least right now. I expect him to basically be a decent 3C who maybe puts up 40 points playing with good linemates.

His 5v5 rates went way up last season (0.83 P/60 to 1.42 P/60). The special teams didn't really help anyone's cause (good riddance to Geoff Ward). But yes, he does need to pull the trigger more.

I had a thought to take a more experienced (lower upside) NHLer but since T-Bone keeps cradle robbing I'm going to (re-)draft Robert Thomas. He torched the OHL despite struggling a bit after a midseason trade and kept it up in the Memorial Cup. He's supposedly a good playmaker and two-way player so he should make it as a 3C at least. He stands a good chance at making the real Blues next season even after they traded for ROR and signed that other guy.
