You haven't lived until you've had ripe cucumbers. Grow them yourself, when they become big and yellow and covered in spikes, that's when they're at their prime. Yum yum.

This might sound weird but I don't recall a time I actually ate a pickle. I know what they taste like because the pickles I take off of burgers leave a foul residue, but I never actually ate one. Something about the smell and the flavor disgusts me.

Ripen a cucumber to pickle status then pickle that. Double pickle. I just thought of this no one steal it.

Do want and will track down tomorrow. E: you hold pickles in your hands. Therefore, they are tacos. Therefore, they are sandwiches. Therefore, they are calzone. Therefore, pickles are pizza. If you put pickles ON your pizza, it is a calzone again.

That sounds soooo good. I love pickled turnips! Lebanese-style pickles are my favorites, but I will also eat any Japanese pickle. I'm not crazy about he eggplant ones, but they are a pretty color and I eat them anyways. poo poo, I even like kanpyo. A pickled egg sounds awful, though. I can't get there.

I like Japanese rice bran pickles. They've got the lactic tang of a good half-sour but without any salt or vinegar, just a really clean, crisp flavor.

I hate pickled cucumbers, but I'll eat almost anything else pickled and I really like kimchi.

There's nothing better than a big deli dill pickle that's been sitting in a jar on the counter for an unknown amount of time.

I love pickled plums, probably because no vinegar is involved (they're brined).

I found that jalapeno slices were my gateway to enjoying pickle slices. On a burger they have basically the same texture, so then I just had to adjust to a slightly different flavor to start enjoying them. I suppose spiced pickles might have piqued my interest sooner if I had encountered them at the time. My toddler absolutely adores anything pickled though, the less sweet the better.

Croatoan posted:Have you only had sweet? Try dill! I've had both and still don't like either. I'll eat kimchi, pickled onions, radishes, mushrooms, even pickled sausages from a convenience store. But never pickled cucumbers. I even order Cuban sandwiches without them because the pickle taste conceals the flavor of good meat and cheese.
