If anyone didn't get to see the truck race yesterday (as I still have , with the advantage of having somehow avoided spoilers all day) there's what appears to be a full video already up on YouTube. I'm going to watch in synchtube at 5 p.m. Eastern and, if anybody out west wants to watch it again later, I might run the playlist sometime later tonight. I bumped the other thread with the link to the room.

Hey exi7wound. Austin Cindric killed the hell out of his car on the last lap of NXS. Leigh Diffey is calling rugby sevens on NBCSN right now and is having a blast doing it and it's making me watch it. CBJSprague24 fucked around with this message at 00:01 on Jul 22, 2018 |

Rick Allen isn't bad at all as an interviewer. Let's give him the Jerry Punch treatment and get a new PBP guy.

This season has all the excitement of Formula One: - One or two guys who are perfect week in and week out - A few more who show flashes of speed but inevitably gently caress up - 2/3rds of the field having no chance and barely able to stay out of their own way

I have no idea but I’m gonna go ahead and guess that since the title is a nonissue now, they’re going with whoever can pay to run instead of going out of pocket.

Some maniac in discord wanted to see what 2017 would've looked like with 1972's terrible point system:
And me being a worthless dork with nothing better to do on a monday night/tuesday morning, I did it. I thought I'd post it here in the slim chance anyone outside of discord would care about this:

NASCAR has literally never had a good point system.

It's weird to me with the playoff points now. I think it would work better if they went back to the 10 race no points reset, but you brought your playoff points in. Right now playoff points are way, way too useful. I understand that it's supposed to make the regular season useful, but it is so much that they may as just get rid of the playoffs because 2 or 3 drivers are going to skate to the final anyways.

I understand that it's supposed to make the regular season useful, but it is so much that they may as just get rid of the playoffs because 2 or 3 drivers are going to skate to the final anyways. In the pre-chase points system, the top handful of drivers, usually the leader or top 2-3, were untouchable heading into the the final stretch of races. You're saying that's also the case now. So what's the complaint if that's how it's always been, really? If anything, putting so much emphasis on playoff points and winning races throughout the year and throughout the playoffs, only to completely throw those concepts out the window in the final race, makes absolutely no sense to me. I still maintain that points earned through the playoffs should carry through to the final race, where it's either a winner take all (winner "advances" to the next phase of the championship—winning it, in this case) or whoever is ahead on points if none of the top 4 wins. You'd still get the drama but it would keep things more consistent and avoid potential last-race clusterfucks.
