I run a model that we use in our trucks that records forward, backward, GPS position, speed and speed caps, hard braking, and XYZ axis g forces. It's pretty spiffy. 16GB SDRAM will hold about a months worth of driving, and it's playback software (the recording format is proprietary) interfaces with Google Maps, so you can watch yourself on the map in real time during playback. My stuff is boring though. Mostly just me screaming at idiots. And it likes to bitch at me because I hit chuckholes which violate the G force rules. I did use it to capture video from a trip we made to the East Coast. Passed some neat stuff. I promise, if I catch anything spectacular, I'll post it here first!

I've not watched the video, but on a related note a colleague of mine is colour-blind and he told me that it was only a few years ago when he discovered that brake lights and turn signals are different colours (red and amber) in the UK and Australia after living in those countries all his life.

I would honestly pay money for one of those. (Maybe I can make one out of an engine hoist.) Chopping wood is a pain in the rear end in large amounts with an axe or hatchet and using those motor driven or hydaulic splitters seems silly. Standing up is the way to go.

Kibayasu posted:The most dangerous thing about it seems to be the handle and it potentially clonking you right in the noggin. Yeah basically. It seems to move very slowly when the dude isn't forcibly pressing it down by hand, and in the same predictable area. Doesn't have any exposed machinery or other places that can catch unto clothing etc. Banging your head is basically the worst that could happen so maybe wearing a hardhat would help.

Itt North Americans are confused and angered by a water saving feature. Perhaps if we make the toilets burn gasoline it'll be more your speed? What about we call the small button fun size and the big button super size would that help?

spankmeister posted:Itt North Americans are confused and angered by a water saving feature. You obviously weren’t following my previous idiot derail but I’m British and Angry At Bathroom Fittings. If you want to have variable flush control just use a single flush handle or button which allows itself to be stopped when you’re done flushing. Or design the flush so that it releases less water anyway, and if you’ve done something catastrophic in there then you can just flush it twice. I should point out I do know how mixer taps and double flush button toilets work. I don’t get cold sweats and paralysed by indecision every time I use a new bathroom. I just dislike over engineered unintuitive control methods which don’t improve upon anything at all. Maybe I’m projecting but I’d be very surprised if most people don’t just hit the biggest and therefore easiest button available whatever they’ve done. If the aim is reduction in overall toilet water usage I’m sure there’s better ways of doing it.

I always marvel at the straightgrainedness, and lack of knots in the logs that these guys always seem to be splitting. I burn 4-6 cords of firewood each winter, and I split all of it with a 30 ton hydraulic splitter, and the trees we have here in Northern Ohio are never like that. Second growth Maple and Oak logs are always knotty, and I've had many that even the hydraulic splitter couldn't split. Splitting them by hand with a maul is a waste of effort because it's not gonna happen. But, if all your logs are like the ones this dude is splitting, then yeah, manual is the way to go if you want to save time.
