What Brand of Cylinders do you normally use and what do you like/dislike about them? Most job sites I see SPX equipment, but it's completely up to the PT supplier what equipment they provide. I'm just there to document that the ironworkers pulling cables follow the rules. The equipment seems to be pretty rock solid. Almost everything I see is rather old and has been fixed/refurbished several times over but still running well. The times I've had a chance to talk with guys on the supplier's end of things, they have so many jobs to cover that every piece of gear has to be out in the field. For one job, Gerdau had to overnight ship a snub nose ram from 2 states away in order for us to be able to continue work the next day.

I recently stumbled on a youtube channel that's OSHA as gently caress. Sometimes it's a lack of PPE, sometimes they'll push something towards the jet with their hand or something way too short. But they always lick them. I hope this version of Ben-Hur is safer than the 1926 film: "Snopes posted:The set in Rome proved to be unsuitable due to problems with shadows and the racetrack surface. Francis X. Bushman (Mesalla) relates the following: “During one take, we went around the curve and the wheel broke on the other fellow’s chariot. The hub hit the ground and the guy shot up in the air about thirty feet. I turned and saw him up there — it was like a slow-motion film. He fell on a pile of lumber and died of internal injuries.” quote:Another impressive and controversial scene in the 1926 version is the sea battle. Filmed at Livorno, Italy, it used hundreds of local extras, many of whom apparently lied about being able to swim. Friction was evident between the fascist and anti-fascist camps of the Italian cast. According to Brownlow, director Fred Niblo found a pile of sharpened swords on the deck of the pirate flagship — apparently the man casting the extras had separated the crews along political lines in hopes of getting a real naval engagement.

Ah SPX, okay, makes sense given it’s the states, although I’m kinda surprised it’s not enerpac since I know they’ve been making a push for specing into post tensioning and anchor bolt work where they can now. I’m Not surprised either, the issue we mainly face is that a lot of sites have equipment they’ve been using for years that works “fine” but could be better. Getting companies to replace tools under those circumstances (even if they’d be lighter/faster/smaller) is near impossible. Also our USA sales office is frankly really bad at pushing tensioning products generally.

This shits the pants. damhikt...

PainterofCrap posted:A family member of my wife was crushed to death in exactly this manner. I never pass trucks on the outside of a curve any more. Sometimes it doesn't even matter if you're on the opposite side of the road. I don't know if they fixed it but there's a notorious on-ramp in North Vancouver - the entrance is not only after a long curve on which you can't build up speed but it is also immediately before a bridge so there is basically no space for the entering cars to get up to highway speeds or even find a gap. There are only 2 lanes for each side so if traffic was ever heavy in the right lane the entrance got backed up because even the most aggressive/best driver in the world couldn't force themselves in if there wasn't enough of a gap to stomp on the gas after exiting the curve. See my amazing MS Paint diagram here: https://i.imgur.com/HnC5Itk.jpg. After driving the route enough a lot of people learned to be nice and change from the right lane to the left lane if they see a line of cars building up. Unfortunately one day one of these drivers (who had driven the route many times) was in a fully loaded logging truck. Immediately after the bridge in my drawing is a fairly sharp right turn for a highway. I don't think it was ever officially said why the truck was in the left lane but thinking about it now I guess it wouldn't have actually mattered. In any case the logging truck entered the right turn after the bridge and lost its load over the highway divider. Killed two women and injured 4 others. The driver was cleared of any charges as no evidence was found that he was speeding but I can't find any articles after that about if the load wasn't secured properly or what.
