the chapter 2 areas are right outside the ring of chapter 1 zones, like the post suggests

Maybe? You can play fashion dress-up with your Pokemon and also your starter rides around on your head, and you can have one follow you around. And you can even ride on ones that are large enough.

I, for one, am super excited for it.

In preparation for all the travelling I’ll be doing soon, what are some good two player games I can play with my girlfriend with the switch in tabletop mode and two joycons, or by sharing the console? Apart from Mario Kart, which I have. Games which are rewarding for a variety of skill levels and that I could enjoy playing by myself or with more experienced gamer friends at other times would be preferable. Any genre. Have there been any decent tabletop board games ported to the switch?

Lovers in a dangerous space time is an up to 4 player co-op game where you pilot a ship in space together. One controls steering, another controls shields, and the others can handle one of the 4 weapon stations. You have to clear 5 different galaxies, with increasingly difficult enemies and planetoid placement, which procedurally regenerate every run.

https://youtu.be/Kz8oImiJSUg

With multiple ship types to unlock and an in mission upgrade system that gives you unique runs every time, Lovers is the best coop game you can get for odd couple coop pairings where one player isn't as skilled as others. In something like overcooked, you feel it when one person is weak and there's not much you can do but slowly sink, especially in some cases where you're literally divided by the kitchen, but in lovers, the game is designed for one to "captain" in certain situations. It's also one of the rare built for coop games that's just as fun single player.

And ticket to Ride and carcosonnse are coming soon.

You have to remember who the target audience is. The single-player campaign is "baby's first RPG" and the online play is for super serious competitive gamers who grind for secret stats.

What's the second ending?

Because the quest as posted is doing a good job putting me off Octopath in general. As much because it's a reminder of how little choice there is in JRPGs in general as the actual plot. The stories I played in the demo, while not very interactive, were pretty cozy, so being subjected to gross stuff like that later would really ruin the feel of the game to me.

One of the aristocrats is secretly a communist working to help out the poor and if you bring this to the angry poor folk you set up a meeting with them. The end :confuoot:

Don't worry, this is literally the only quest like this that I've found and I've gone through most of the game now. It put me off too (wonder how much of that was the translation team) but it's not representative of anything else in the game at all.

e: also it felt extra bad for me because I picked Tressa as my main (the correct choice) and had just been buying everything I found because yay, buying stuff. When I got to the guard he commended me for "confiscating their weapons" and I was like... what the heck? I just wanted to buy the nice things. Paid a ton of cash for it too :( The "intended" way to do that lovely ending is presumably to steal the weapons.

e2: another thing to note is that the weapons you buy/steal are named things like "spear of justice" with the descriptions being that they belong to people fighting for justice so at least the game sort of tries to make this the bad ending?

You can get the leader of the revolution in touch with a sympathetic noble who helps them change things for the better without bloodshed. Not exactly the most interesting sidequest but certainly better than that other option I didn't even realize existed.

Regy Rusty
Apr 26, 2010

Honestly aside from the multi part sidequests with recurring characters most of them are not particularly heavy on story. The actual character stories are more in depth and tend to deal with complex issues with at least a bit of nuance.

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the moral of Alfyn's chapter 3 though. Hopefully it's something that gets re-examined in his last one.

For some reason I can't get myself to double dip on games. As much as I'd like Binding of Isaac on Switch, because I got it for free on Playstation, I can't see myself paying $40 for it.

Same with sale prices too. I wanted to buy Night in the Woods yesterday to play something not as intensive after Hollow Knight, but it was $20. Since I saw it on sale for like $15, I can't get myself to buy it for $20.

I'll just play Bayonetta 2 on Normal mode and be a kale farmer in Stardew Valley instead.
