DSA endorsement and her winning are not correlated. She’ll probably lose either way.

A better example would be endorsing Bernie over Hillary in the presidential primary, which DSA did

ah well gently caress them it's crucial we defend the reputation of our dorklords instead of win any actual victory against a fuckface like some dickhead who would literally go out of his way to keep the republicans in power of the state senate than a somewhat well off white lady that actually acknowledged the state she made her life of comfort in had become an absolute dystopian hellhole

Nobody was voting for Cynthia Nixon because they were a loving Sex and the City Fan. She opens her loving ad defending public schools.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiOo4C2CiRQ

She literally opens her ad declaring we're the most unequal state in the country. That outside NYC, half our kids are below the poverty line. And she just asks, how did we let this happen? We are sick of politicans who care more about headlines and power, than they do about us. She literally said to stick our necks out and fight and sieze. Maybe it's all bullshit, but that it is a loving hell of a lot more honest, and real, and getting the DSA to power to move and fight across not just New York and then the rest of America, than any loving dickhead that is Cuomo or working for Cuomo.

Folks, I'm hearing that if you don't think NYC DSA should endorse Nixon, it means you want to campaign for Andrew Cuomo to be President of these United States and further grind the poor into dust on a national scale. hosed up if true.

watch that and loving tell me that letting Cuomo go unchallenged is a better idea than some irrelevant RPG spreadsheet of privilege that won't matter as Trump somehow tries to run for re-election in 2024. I can't watch that and think she is bullshitting any harder than Cuomo as he keeps Republicans in power of the State senate. It is Cuomo's loving people being convicted of corruption in the racistass court system. So why should we give Cuomo a pass?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zfFELTu-rQ

Nixon isn't perfect. Or great. I accept and even endorse your criticisms. But I'd rather actress Nixon making mistakes, instead of brokeass Cuomo trying to legitimize his tyranny against a left-wing insurgency.

Are things expected to pop off there? Because I think you might be sorely disappointed if you're going to a standard general meeting expecting drama

this thread is a catty drama aggregator for an org of 45000 people, any random room full of 100 dsa members wont have that problem (most of the time)

literally any 5 people online can cause drama that will be talked about in this thread and the org is over 47,000 people nationally.

Go. it's fun. you can meet both drama magnets and non-drama people at DSA. there are all kinds.

philly seems to have had success already knocking off some lovely corrupt machine politics dems so i imagine there will be less drama than, say, east bay, whose accomplishments to date have mostly been drama-related

General meetings (typically) are pretty dry affairs. I'd recommend checking to see if there's some sort of intro to DSA or socialism or some sort of orientation meeting planned by the chapter happening soon, which will probably be a better starting point.

BUT! If not (or you are fired up enough to not wait) yeah go for it. If nothing else you can hear about what the chapters been doing, what they are going to be doing, and find someone who has their finger on the pulse on the chapter who can help plug you into a committee or working group or whatever, since that's where the real work gets done.

General meetings are important, but it's basically the equivalent of going to an all hands meeting at a company on your first day.

in my experience the drama all takes place on Twitter and email and slack, meetings are pretty boring (which is a good thing)

Ace of Baes

usually meetings are members getting together, talking about whats been going on, what's coming up, and voting on procedural stuff (or endorsing a candidate, formation of a working group, allocating funds for something, etc)

talking about what's been going on sounds very boring but also I have no experience with or knowledge of the Philly dsa the national group so those things would probably be good to know. anything's better than idly applying for jobs.

plus they seem to be going to a Phillies game as a group soon and i would be a fool to pass up an opportunity to have hot dogs shot at me from a cannon
