anime was right posted:this is what a movement looks like. its slow. but its happening. Yeah, a lot of these progressives are going to lose their primaries/generals and while that sucks, that's going to get trumpeted as a sign of them being rejected. When in reality it is probably going to take a couple election cycles for progressives to reach statehouses and congress in appreciable numbers just because of how heavily things are weighted towards incumbents.

tulsi's problem is her support for modi / BJP. it reveals an anti-muslim streak this becomes even more considering her constant haranguing of obummer for not saying 'radical islamic terror' like loving sean hannity or something i also remember reading that she was pretty awful towards the homeless as a city councilor in Honolulu would still vote for her in 2020 lmao

Locally there are only three candidates for vice mayor, and one describes herself as a "socially moderate," because she presided over a gay marriage, "fiscally conservative probably Republican", I got a campaign ad from the second saying "We can count on ________ to meet our budget challenges without raising taxes", and the third talked about inclusionary zoning and raising taxes, but he was recently in court for violating a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend, wrote “I’m not like Megan Barry, I don’t let my loved ones die from Addiction.” when the mayor's son died, has a warrant out for his arrest in Austin, TX from unpaid DUI fines, and people say he sounds drunk on the phone. The second candidate talks about "fully funding public schools", when the mayor wants to cut their budgets, and "fight[ing] for more affordable housing" and "expanding access to more affordable housing", but he doesn't say how he's going to do all that without raising taxes in his answers to newspapers. I guess I'll vote for him.
