Masculinity in America is so hosed. I took 3 months paternity leave and almost everytime I took my daughter out shopping during a weekday or to a doctor appointment I would get flat out asked if I was out of work. Meanwhile I am part of a multi agency violent crimes task force with a ton of actual combat vets and stereotypical "alpha male" personalities and I was getting daily texts yelling at me for not bringing my daughter in to hang out them

Where I work of is a bit weird in that gangs aren't really an issue outside of specific neighbor hoods and even then it's more just part of growing up in a neighbor hood and once you get out of high school the gang really isnt a part of your life. I have only run into a few nazis including one guy who I met at a tattoo shop. He wanted a swastika on his leg covered up and ended up with an absolutely beautiful koi fish tattoo. Last I heard he was completely out and his dad got him work as a paralegal and he was working to get his law degree and become a public defender to make up for his past.

I kinda feel 'toxic masculinity' would be a better sell not as 'this is why everything you enjoy and value is bad' but as something like 'you've been raised to value and aspire to unrealistic and unhealthy expectations based on a world that no longer exists and barely even did in the first place that is making you miserable for achieving what only rich people can nowadays'. It's basically almost the same and strongly overlaps with leftism; 'You've been lied to all your life, the system does not reward you for working hard and is built to favour only the wealthy, this is why the world isn't making sense with what you've been told.'
