You can only ever own 6 ships at a time. Once you own 6, though, NPCs will never land on your freighter, despite having 9 parking spots. If you own 5, you have to leave your freighter for just 1 to enter.

Yeah, the blueprint analyzer has a LOT of stuff, and you won't see most of it unless you invest into it. There is a limit to how much it shows at any given time.

Edit: Apparently you're supposed to get a landing platform blueprint from the base building questline, but it's bugged and gives you a starship module instead?

I assume this is so if you're in a party with three other people your buddies will always have space to land? It seems pretty poorly thought through.

There's actually an option (look at the bottom right for the keybind) to build in squares.

Not that it matters much because the terrain tools are actually poo poo without a proper "flatten" option.

I hadn't thought of that but, yes, that makes sense.
And yes, that is poorly thought out considering there are single-spot trade depots with NPC ships coming in and out taking spots, I see no reason why you can't do the same thing on a freighter.

How to find your 24-slot S-rank Multitool :

* Install an economy scanner in your ship and unlock and build a save point (carry this with you).

* Find and warp to a rich star system (last word of the economy report should be something like wealthy, oppulent, booming, etc). These have higher chance of selling an S-rank multitool. As an added bonus, they also have a higher volume of ships, which equates to a higher chance you'll find an exotic ship while you're working on the tool.

* Visit the space station and check the multitool shop display. This is important: The class ranking of the tool displayed here will never change. If it's an A-class tool, it will always be an A-class tool. Keep warping until you find an S-class display. Don't forget to buy exosuit upgrades from each station!

* Once you find the S-class display case, we're going to use a trick to reroll the contents of it. Fly to one of the planets and land. Place the save point on the ground and use it. Wait a second for the save to register, then go into the menu and reload the last manual save (the one you just made).

* Fly back to the station and check the display again. If you don't like the results (it isn't 24-slot, you don't like the color or model, or you'd rather try for an experimental or alien tool), fly to a different planet and repeat. You can do this once for each planet and moon in the system.

The reason this works is that every planet has a multitool associated with it, that you can buy from one of the buildings on that planet. However, some planets don't have that building. Each system also has a multitool, which is for sale on the space station. The station tool is determined when you warp to the system, but if you load a game and never warp, the station just sells the last planetary tool it loaded up instead. For some reason, it's the display case that determines the rank and stats of a tool, but the planet determines the model, color, installed tech, and number of slots.

Quoted for future use.

I know what I'm doing next :v:

Star questions: is the "visible" star color unrelated to the actual star classification?

Do the star color hyper drives replace each other so you can just keep blue or whatever and warp to red and green?

Spent awhile last night trying to find a decent ship before I remembered I had found an A class explorer with 38/12 slots and a decent appearance. Turns out it was better than any of the alternatives so I'll be farming a ton of materials to patch up the radioactive leaking hull tonight.

Wish you could give ships paint jobs though.

Friendly reminder that if you scan a ship it shows you class / primary / tech slots in one convenient line on the ui left side (e.g. A 30+4) and its cost as well.

Second friendly reminder that if you find and take possession of a crashed ship you can summon it/find it on your freighter. Find a multi million ship and you can board it, then use a base or station teleporter to hop to a rich system and sit around perusing ships to trade for. This is potentially a much faster way to get a multi million ship early if you win the crashed ship lottery instead of the ruins or cargo lottery.

Actually you don't in NEXT. My ship right now only has an Indium and I can warp to Red and Green. The priority is Cadmium > Emeril > Indium and since having more than one doesn't improve your jump distance anymore, once you get to Indium you can trash the others with no worries.

Also with 3 S Rank upgrades I can warp about 1000 per jump now.

Man, this game is fun but the multiplayer is so drat glitchy. My friends and I were in a group of 4 and kept getting desyncs and weird bugs. At one point, two of us were seeing one version of our base while the host was seeing a completely different one, that's how desynced we got.

I hope they drop another patch or two to fix some of that stuff. I want to play way more of this game but I am hesitant to get too invested in multiplayer games like this if the server can't keep things straight.

Was it a blueprint or an upgrade module? If it's a blueprint it should be somewhere in the Install Technology popup. If it was a module it's an item delivered to your suit or ship inventory.

Aside from the one the suit has built in, as well as the one you get as a blueprint ( Shield Lattice, +20% Hazard Battery.), I don't think I've seen a single one at vendors.

I know of the extra shield ones, the ones that specifically add a buffer that you can recharge. But I'd rather have a larger primary hazard defence, than specific shields that only work against one type of hazard, and clutter up the recharge menu.
