pretty deece margin on chicken and waffles too, id imagine, since a waffle made out of fifty cents' worth of batter generally gets marked up to 10.99 or so after you put a scoop of whipped butter on it

I'd eat it if it wasn't photographed like that. Since it's done in that "front bit is clear, everything else is blurry as poo poo" artsy style I will refuse it out of spite.

Bees on Wheat posted:I'll just leave this here.. I don't have this particular one, but I was genuinely surprised by how good this series of cookbooks is, especially for its time. They're just generally informative, and written by people who had a real passion for the food. American Cooking: Southern Style is particularly well-written and kind of reads like the memoirs of an obliviously racist Anthony Bourdain.

THose are the best, but I think part of it is they just go naturally with the peeling jade laminate counter top and uneven carpeting held together with duct tape. The thing I usually get stuck on is wondering when the last time someone decided to actually stay at these places and eat, since they always have a bunch of tables in various states of disrepair.

Today for lunch I took an empty 8 oz sour cream container and added the following: Goldfish crackers, almost to the top. Several dashes of Cholula hot sauce. Several dashes of Texas Pete hot sauce. A good sprinkling of Tajín. Popped the lid back on and gave it a good shake and ate it with a spoon 8/10. Not soggy at all. Will do again. I think a little of sour cream might go in the next time I try it.

It actually is, though. I know some people who do it. Sweet and salty is a pretty normal combination. That said, it isn't a thing I do personally. E: a tradition, I mean. It's traditional. White trashy, but traditional.
