Gonna pile on the "this is a load of BS" talk. Bendis on Superman isn't amazing, but there is no way they are going this negative so fast. Mind you, I DO expect it to turn south if he doesn't bring in the benjamins. I was actually thinking about this this morning, but Bendis probably did what any sane person would do and ask for a lot of nice poo poo when jumping jobs (it's still the best and frankly ONLY way to substantially raise your salary in America). So, he probably is getting paid above and beyond what he was getting at Marvel with nicer benefits (whatever they may be) because, otherwise, why would he leave? So, I wouldn't be shocked if Bendis doesn't bring in the numbers they expect for them to eventually start getting buyer's remorse. But it hasn't even been a year and he's only done like 7 comics. That would be a dumb move on DC. If in 2 or 3 years he's not topping the charts, though, and Bendis might want to consider seeing if Marvel would take him back since DC will start thinking they overpaid.

I have a lot of respect for what Bendis did in the early days of his Marvel run; his later work didn't really stand out as much, but I think that's in part due to the fact that he helped to set the tone. This Superman run so far has just been... honestly baffling to me, and no different from what they've been doing with the title for years, aside from the dialog. That might change as the run continues, but at the very least I'd expect him to be able to do more with the Daily Planet.

I gave up after two issues. Ah well. Everything else is solicited up to 9 or 10, right? (I just checked Sideways and Silencer.) They'll probably last till 12. I know Lemire completed 12 scripts ahead of time for The Terrifics. edit: Unexpected started late. That could be cancelled at #6 next solicit. Surprising Immortal Men is ending after 6 issues. Personally I think if they were going to jack up the prices of their mainline books to industry standards, I'd have had the 'New Age of Heroes' as lower-priced to entry books. Not sure it would make a sales difference, but it sounds like a nice thought.

#1: As best as I can tell, all of these books were/are priced at $2.99? #2: This was being discussed in another thread and while as an industry (or as Marvel and DC, I guess) undervalues/underpromotes artists, this New Age of Heroes thing at DC is also a pretty decent example of why (within the Big Two system of eternal monthly grinds and etc.) it's a lot easier to promote a new book by [writer] than [artist]. And even that is skewed considering two books didn't even get a full issue drawn by the advertised CREATOR. Meanwhile the writers who were marketed to just be there to see the artist's vision through seem to be pretty consistently holding it down with a raft of fill-in artists. All of this is a good argument for artists who can to find projects outside of the monthly grind, really.

Only good thing Jason is for now are scenes where Ace is stealing his jacket or dumb stuff like that when he's with the rest of the Batfamily.

My gut reaction is to like it, but that's just because it looks like he stole half of Azrael's outfit, and frankly the last thing Azrael needs is to be associated with Jason Todd. Also, he needs a katana because it's more threatening than a crowbar? gently caress off, I'm running from both.
