I love this. For sake of empathy Allison is willing to risk all for a guy who she didn't have much of a relationship with. Those four panel of her breaking down into tears after she realizes what she has in common with him is beautiful. I hope Allison can overcome her own nagging self doubt enough to remove incubus from her system.

Allison finally confronts the rulers of the universe(s) and demands to know where Zaid is. Turns out they all kind of forgot about him and he's been floating naked curled up in a ball in that astral meeting place since book 1 or 2. Whoopsie. Could have just collected him pretty much any time they wanted to. Everyone looks sheepish and embarrassed, including the thorn knights.

I think the division of self here is want and personal dedication overcoming her desire to be out of this. She has conquered herself, in a sense - the parts of her that wanted to just keep running, or get it over with quickly. Also it's worth noting that her internal struggle paralleled the story of YS and UN, the divided halves of Yisun, when they warred for seven years then made love for seven days. She divided then rejoined, and now her will and her morality both fuel her want.
