Speaking of which, I know we can now put three letter-mods per system into gear/ships/et cetera. Does the Advanced Mining Laser count as one of those? It has a letter A, but it's crafted.

As far as I can tell, the upgrades you build from blueprints and require a tech module to install don't count; for example, I have 3 S-class phase beam upgrades plus the C-class blueprint you can get from the ship upgrade dealer all sitting next to one another. Another thing to note, the limit is 3 per inventory type, so I actually have a total of 6 S-class phase beam upgrades on my fighter: 3 in the general inventory, 3 in technology slots. It's comically fast at dealing with pirates.

So I didn't put any thought into collecting ships or even realize there was a hard limit and didn't bother researching how ships work before claiming wrecked ones. So now I have a handful of ships that aren't amazing and are also busted up. How should I go about dealing with these since I can't just sell them? Is my best course of action to just bring them to space station, trade them in for a working one of the same class and just work my way up with them?

I really wish you could just like sell them or scrap them or just straight up delete them if you wanted

If you’re on PC, you can use a save editor and delete them. Otherwise yes you have to trade them for other ships.

I went back to my starting system to find out what the third planet was that I never went to. (My starting planet was radioactive, my second was toxic, but neither intolerably so - 6 minutes outside until dead)

Turns out it was a beautiful planet full of life, a breathable and pleasant atmosphere, and minimal sentinel activity

Guess I found where to build my first real base

Funny thing is I found that ship almost immediately when I started playing - but it took another 15 hours or so before I could repair it sufficiently to make it useful.

I still have yet to find a 24 slot multitool though

I'm already looking ahead to when I'm maxed out on inventory/tech on my suit/ship/tool, I suppose the fleet management will keep me busy for awhile, though it looks like once you get the crafting loop set up you generate hundreds of millions in short order.

I guess at that point you just explore, build a base, hit the galaxy core, call the game done and move on until the next big patch.

I don't think I can complain, pretty sure I'll be over 50 hours by that point, and this game is very relaxing to chill with.

Oh no
When your freighter ship (frigate?) says “awaiting debriefing”, do you handle that at the fleet command terminal in the command room you build?

My terminal says there’s no expeditions out, and only gives me the option to leave. The navigator guy is no help, nor are the other terminals apparently. I have an empty slot in my freighter (and ship and exosuit, for that matter) inventory.

I suppose I’m bugged, but wanted to check if I was missing something.

Most of the time, just fine on mine. There are occasional ~1 second pauses at times when it doesn’t matter (like getting into your ship in a space station, or right at the end of teleporting directly to your base), and very occasionally it gets really choppy if I pull up the log or discovery screen in a “busy” location (like inside a room in a multi-room base).
