How is this any different from what happened to Barnaby earlier this year, apart from that she's on the team you like more? There were lots of articles and leaks around the WA Nats' investigation of him for sexual assault, and I'm sure that many people who vote Lib/Nat felt that it was a systematic takedown, too.

Is Buzzfeed or any other outlet posting information that they can't back up? How would this be libel?

Astro Labe nominated for an Australian of the Year award

The Hobart DJ who assaulted former Prime Minister Tony Abbott last year has been nominated for an Australian of the Year award.

The nomination for Astro Labe came via a friend and its receipt was confirmed on Wednesday.

Mr Labe was convicted to six months’ imprisonment for headbutting Mr Abbott near the Hobart waterfront but was released after two months.

Criminal convictions do not automatically count a person out of being considered for an award and awards are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Hadley: “I know you do on some things but when it comes to challenging the Prime Minister you have to watch your Ps and Qs because you might end up the minister for nothing.”

Dutton: “Well mate, I’m not worried about that, that’s the last thing I’m concerned about. I speak my mind and say what I think.”

Hadley: “Alright well speak your mind, do you think that tax cuts for big income is the most important issue confronting Australia leading into the next federal election, yes or no?”

Dutton: “Two points. One is, energy is the most important issue at the moment…”

Hadley: “So the answer would be no, it’s not the biggest issue.”

Dutton: “The second point is that, as you know, for any business big or small, tax cuts are important. There’s no question about that. The question is whether you take it to the next election if you can’t get it through the Senate. ”

Hadley: “Let me answer for you. The answer Peter Dutton is no we don’t.”

Dutton: “If you start providing the answers I’m going to start asking the questions.”

*sigh* gently caress people are dumb sometimes, not specifically you, just generally. Alice Workman was backgrounded by a nameless staffer about something that may or not have happened in a room with someone else who point blank refutes it. It is clear that it's not "just reporting on a letter" because there was back and forth after Jason Clare's statement. Husar may well be a terrible person for other reasons, but this kind of unsubstantiated stuff is probably libelous, which is why I used the word libel.

I seem to remember similar claims about former-Senator Lambie too, various unnamed staffers saying how uncomfortable they were, and isn't it odd that nothing came of that? Surely if they were on a similar level to Barnaby, that would have been treated with the utmost seriousness?

Barnaby might have a case for libel too, certainly his partner does from some of the stuff I've seen, but the CPG scrupulously avoided any suggestion of it, which is odd considering the years of allegations (yes, years, look it up), and a documented case of the Nats trying to ignore a complaint over those years.

Idiots like the CPG would love to reduce this to a fake objective "they're all as bad as each other" to absolve themselves of any agenda, and that's both pathetic and ruinous to mature political discussion.

hit up Fair Trading NSW. They might be able to help you sort out the situation and help you take them to CAT

Baby, take me by my hand,

Not is NSW, but VCAT is pretty straight forward and I'd imagine the two are similar. Pay your $60 or whatever for the hearing and expect the business to not show so you automatically win. If they do turn up, having your receipt and dates in order is all you'll need. It's a short sharp process, you don't need to do anything other then say what you paid for, when you paid for it, what has gone wrong and show the documentation.

Food delivery company Foodora is pulling out of Australia, and will close its doors by August 20.
In a statement, Foodora said the reason for its Australian closure was to "shift [its] focus towards other markets where the company currently sees a higher potential for growth".

...

Although Foodora will no longer compete in the Australian food delivery business, it still needs to defend two lawsuits.
Later this month, the company will return to the Fair Work Commission to defend an unfair dismissal case.
It is also being sued by the Fair Work Ombudsman for sham contracting.

...

Tony Sheldon, national secretary of the Transport Workers Union, suggested the move was being made to avoid paying its riders backpay, saying three quarters of its workforce was underpaid.
"Foodora would rather pull out of Australia and leave thousands of riders without work rather than pay them the millions of dollars they owe," he said.
"Ever since they arrived in Australia, Foodora, like other food delivery companies, has denied its riders fair rates, superannuation, workers compensation, annual leave, the right to collectively bargain and even forces them to work shifts for no pay at all."
