I never said it was good. dc culture is built around working your connections and namedropping how high up you are on the social ladder because you went to X meeting or party. it is the polar opposite of the "let's pretend we are a meritocracy" of the tech world. as a result the food scene is obsessed with limited time or hard to get into gimmicky restaurants and bars. that bar literally is just a rotating gimmick. it swaps out themes every few weeks and makes bank off people coming in to get Instagram photos of themselves standing in front of the decor and to write pages long yelp reviews about each of the dozen or so $14 cocktails so that they can pull out "oh the Candycane cocktail at the Miracle on 7th St bar was just amazing and probably you favorite take on a peppermint drink. oh you didn't make it there? what a shame."
