Bi cis goon, I'm a white straight cis goon who's tried his best to research and understand the trans community, among other marginalized groups. The one thing I've determined is to never ever judge a group by their subreddit. Reddit represents the absolute worst and dumbest of humanity and should be avoided accordingly. The reason I say this is because, unfortunately, some people use the stupidity and insularity of Redditors (some of whom *happen to be* non cis or non straight) to justify statements like, "Trans people are crazy/stupid/have no critical thinking." See: any other subreddit, 4chan, any MAGA chud. If you can, try to find a trans and/or non-binary person you trust to answer your questions, as awkward as you may feel about them. As long as you make it clear that you're coming from a place of ignorance and that you are attempting to learn and grow as a person, if they're your friend they probably won't mind. If they do mind, respect their wish and find someone else. If asking questions like these is enough for him or her to want to "unfriend" you, you probably wouldn't want to have been friends with that person in the first place.

You're generally just better off getting to know people who identify as non-binary to understand what they mean by it given despite the enthusiasm that internet people take to developing new labels for themselves, you're unlikely to find two people who agree on the same definition. I know a couple non-binary people and for the most part they seem to not care who uses what pronouns to refer to them, 'he', 'she' and 'they' being fine as long as you're clear. The line on them tends to be that they're men who are either confused or predatory, and are using their nonbinary identification to shield them from criticism for having male privilege/allow them to sexually harass women and control left-wing social groups without being accused of being patriarchal. Basically, that they're using nonbinary identification as a way to get a "free pass" out of being thought of as part of the oppressor class by feminist communities. I don't super buy that either, but it's at least ideologically consistent within the trans-critical feminist worldview, which puts protecting female born people and erasing the gender binary at the top of its list of priorities, and tends to make it an explicit stance that it's not interested in facilitating the interests of male born people as a class. Their stance on female born nonbinary people really isn't.

I was coming off a late flight and the terminal was almost empty aside from the people who had just gotten off the same plane as me. A few TSA agents, a couple janitors, a couple people waiting for family members. Then I saw this one guy, standing against the far wall, who looked like an Asian version of the Thin Men from the XCOM games: Very tall, impossibly thin, weirdo looking black suit. Weird as in, avant-garde fashion. I figured him for a chauffeur, but I didn't want to stare at him too long. Never got gangstalked though.

My advice for the white dude trying to not be racist is twofold. One, just try to treat the dude like you would any other co-worker. If you stick along those lines you probably won’t say anything that could be construed as racist. Two, this dude has probably copped a huge amount of poo poo for being black if the area you live in doesn’t have many black people. He would have a pretty thick skin and if god forbid you do say something racist toward him he’ll probably forgive you if you apologise. He might not like you that much though. Virgin who lied, I guess just apologise and say something like “I was super weird back then which is probably why I was a virgin til 29. I owe everything good in my life to you giving me a chance, please give me another one.” This is assuming your life with her has been pretty good up to this point. Also your dad owes you like at least a 12 year old bottle of scotch whiskey. At least.
