Game seems fine. I'm not that all crazy about it but I think it's just due to fatigue with the core COD gameplay. I'm not a big fan of the movement regression from Blops3. I am a bit on the fence about picking it up but the game seems serviceable and if you want to play a COD this certainly seems like a decent COD game.

Happy that Battery is back in this one though. :getin:

I've been hoping that they dial back the movement, but that's because I've never been able to get into the futuristic CODs overall.

It seems odd that they dialed it back but it's still all futurey and you can still zip around with a grappling hook. Like sure, nobody liked WW2 but that doesn't mean you can no longer make a good COD game without robot gimmicks. Like, you're either a jetpack future man or you're not.

It still looks cool and I'll buy it but I just want them to make Black Ops 1 again TBH.

Some thoughts:
- shotguns need better one-hit kill range
- armor is bullshit
- not a fan of the health system
- scorestreaks look fun
- specialists are good but they need to let people pick them regardless of who else is using them
- 5v5 needs to go
- the menus suck
- maps are pretty fun so far

Treyarch has acknowledged a bug where the game will get into a bad state where frame rate will is "severely impacted," and they're working with QA to determine how to reliably reproduce it.

But anecdotally, I felt the connection was an issue tonight. Lots of choppy animations and jumpiness on other player models.

To be honest, I felt kinda nice in the beta so far on Day 1 (2). Crash is fun for being passive as gently caress, Specialist Abilities miiiiight need a speeding up before the Equipment Thingy.

And the low amount of weapons in the beta is kinda harsh. Especially when you got a level 25 cap.

On the bright side, since Youtube is making GBS threads on it, we won't see any lovely Youtubers in game!

Also armor is a non-issue for me, either pack APs or get the jump on dudes. Can't really take advantage of extra bullet taken when you can't retaliate.

They really should've made shotguns primaries again. I've only used the pump action but it could honestly be a primary once you've gotten used to the two shot kill on it.

Pros:

Control is a pretty neat game type. Runs the wee-est bit long, but it adds enough structure to TDM to be interesting and make more defensive heroes more useful.
Playing support is pretty fun.
I was worried I'd be bugged by the hero limits and the new health system, but so far neither have seemed particularly bothersome.
I like the Destiny/Overwatch style of feelgood scoring (assists count as kills, instead of K/D, you're shown (K+A)/D)
Underkill finally makes my dream of a double-secondary loadout a reality.
DMRs are back.
Most primary guns feel pretty good (don't @ me.)

Cons:

Between the connection and the framiness, I had a bunch of deaths where I didn't realize I was being shot from the front until the killcam started rolling.
Quickscoping good, hardscoping bad.
Lobby timers are horribly long, but they don't (seem to) use them to preload the maps even once the vote locks in. If you load too slow (Treyarch has acknowledged a loading speed bug as a known issue), you don't get to pick your operator or loadout.
The killcam doesn't display the killer's loadout. With all the new ways to detect enemies, it's a touch obnoxious not to know what prompted them to whip around and blast you.
Secondary shotguns require a pretty big adjustment in playstyle. I was pretty frustrated landing a solid blast and only knocking off half an enemy's health. Although looking at Offshore's footage, maybe the attachments are able to make them more appealing.
I'm really hoping every gun gets an operator mod in the final game because only half of them having one is weird and sucks.

It's kind of amazing how the new Control game mode has combined the best parts of Demolition (split offence/defence rounds), Dom (capturing/defending zones), BF style respawn tickets (~27-30 per team), and the tense, nail-biting moments of Search & Destroy when each team is down to their last handful of lives!

I'll play a game or two and record it for you to watch. That way you can see what I do differently.

Edit: I can say this about them though:

-Learn2hop. OHKO is unreliable at best and nonexistant at worst. Learn to bunny hop left or right after landing that first hit in 1v1 fights so that you have enough time to fire a second shot.
-Long barrel is probably the number one attachment to use on the pump action. That extra range helps a lot.
-Armor ain't poo poo against you. Maybe armor+health boost will stop it but you'll still two shot people wearing armor.
-Rapid fire does help but not that much. I'm gonna experiment with it to see if it'd be better to just run stock or something.
-Dragonbreath rounds are godawful and you should avoid them like the plague. All they do is inflict the wound status effect which stops people from healing for a pretty large amount of time. No burn or damage over time. They also cut your range by a lot. Like even less range than a base shotgun with no attachments. I'd much rather have range over all of that.
