Hopefully the Qult getting mocked by the rest of the alt-right will kill theory that they're all part of a grand, orchestrated Russian psy-op. I get why people think Russia would want this stuff signal boosted, I just can't imagine any room full of state intelligence having enough interest in sponge-brained Americans to try to write or direct it all into some kind of coherent narrative. Especially when sponge-brained Americans are so clearly willing to do it to themselves. Much easier to trawl for naturally occurring crazy and light it up with all the bot-clicks and broken english your St. Petersburg server farm can output. Cheaper, too.

I recently bought a copy of Behold A Pale Horse and it’s amazing how much X-Files cribbed and reconfigured. They also worked a lot of real history in there that was at the time just a step above folklore. And the spirit of the age was pure paranoia, just everyone stumbling around not knowing what the new grand narrative was going to be while coming to terms with all the horrible poo poo America did in the 20th century.
