How are reapers negating 4 hits?

I'm not disputing that they're frustrating to fly against (jam is crazy powerful), but I've never had trouble hurting one any time I had multiple hits on the board.

It may have been a fluke, and it wasn’t every turn, but Palp was involved, along with a few other upgrades.

One of the named reapers gets to add evades if you don't have tokens, so maybe that's it? They can conceivably get up to 4 evades: one token, one ability, one native die, one from lightweight frame. But if they have an evade, they're not jamming (unless it has PTL?).

Ooh, this wording will need clarification.

Could be read as (and I assume this is what they actually mean):
1) suffer one (hit)
2) roll two dice
3) suffer whatever damage the dice say

or

1) roll two dice
2) Look at die 1. Suffer one (hit) plus whatever the die says
3) Look at die 2. Suffer one (hit) plug whatever the die says

Actually, a third way:
1) roll two dice
2) look at die 1. If it's a hit or a crit, suffer 1 (hit) plus what the die says. If it's blank, suffer nothing.
2) look at die 2. If it's a hit or a crit, suffer 1 (hit) plus what the die says. If it's blank, suffer nothing.
Any interpretation by the first one requires some extreme mental gymnastics and makes no sense.

Also, I think I've found the first Imperial Ace ship that I'm in love with in 2.0. New Whisper doesn't hit as hard, but is far more survivable, even against higher initiative threats, with this setup.

"Whisper" (52)
Lone Wolf (4)
Collision Detector (5)
Grand Inquisitor (16)
Stealth Device (6)

Total: 83

I was thinking of going "old school" Whisper. By taking Krennic you get a TL action, which means you can use FCS. Those, plus Juke, since you'll have an evade quite often, give you a solid offense. Toss Optimized Prototype on another ace.

So, I had a weird thought when falling asleep last night. What upgrade combos significantly hurt you.

For instance, sensor jammer with a score to settle. You turn a hit to a focus which then your target turns to a crit instead. Or like against arc butt guns.

Anyone else has some like that?

Sensor Jammer is one of the very few; both with AS2S and with RAC.

The other obvious one one is HLC with Omega Leader.

Could work I feel like. I like that it's a fairly cheap setup for an ace. It's hard to fit 3 aces in a list without cutting corners.

I don't think that's true. You're not going to get triple Init 6 mega-aces, but you can absoultely get 1 or 2 with a third ace.

Vader is expensive, as are Defenders, costing 80-95ish depending on build.
Whisper CAN be expensive, but doesn't have to be. He can be built for approx 60-70 points, as can pretty much any other traditional Ace, like Soontir.
There are also several mini-aces in the 45-55 point range, like the assorted Strikers.

Gonna take some experimentation, but putting in a munitions platform, like a bomber or punisher, might be better as your third ship.

Here are eight example builds that look fairly efficient. It's not hard to fit three of these into a list.

Nah it’s very poorly written. It needs a pause to differentiate between the auto-damage and the damage from dice. Now it sounds like you take one damage per result, plus an additional damage matching that result. I understand that many people read it as you do, as that seems like the intended way, but that doesn’t excuse them from clear writing.

I mean, that's sort of what I was trying to get at. You can build aces that aren't crazy, but you're by definition cutting costs a little to do so. Not that they're weak necessarily, but avoiding certain expensive upgrades gets you three good aces instead of 1-2 plus a mini swarm or light ace. Whisper + Soontir leaves enough room for a lot of options for example, if you don't go all in on Whisper with the most expensive stuff in each slot.

I'm really curious to see if aces remain such huge force multipliers as they were in 1.0 or if going cheaper on them with extra bodies is more effective. I enjoyed the Ace + mini-swarm in 1.0 a lot, but flying triple aces was always fun and terrifying.

That's just vile. I will be really happy when jam only works at range 1 in 2.0. Kind of stuck in on a list for the last big 1.0 tournament next week. Big threats are reaper lists and Miranda/Lowie/Ezra. My harpoon list can eat up Miranda lists but has a real hard time against reaper and Rey/Lowie is the opposite. Maybe say gently caress it all and run 5 X-wings with FAA.

While reading through the recently released Rulebook I came across something that either I don't recall being discussed or was already common knowledge, but there's a particular bullet point under the Upgrade Cards section:

Rules Reference, pg.19 posted:

• A ship cannot equip more than one copy of the same card.

This looks like an effort to prevent stacking duplicates of upgrades on ships with double slots, but it mostly effects munitions-heavy ships where you can't have doubles of bombs/missiles/torpedoes to carry you through the match without having to perform a Reload Action.

Probably something to keep in mind when squad-building before the app is released.

I'd probably wait personally but I'm not chalk full of jazz about the game since I've been playing it for three years or whatever.

If you can snag some collection for pennies on the dollar with the full knowledge that basically the only thing useful out of it will be the ship models in a month or so, then hey why not. Just be prepared to then have to buy conversion kits on top of everything else and to have way too many Xwings and TIE fighters compared to everything else.

Why not both? You'll want a core set either way, but buying out a grog for the plastic and getting the relevant conversion kits will buy you into the game with minimal investment for some time to come.

LOL, like any Wangs player is doing anything OTHER than trying to peddle their ships for the full MSRP or as close as they think they can get. I've seen people selling regular small-base ships for $14 and trying to call it a deal.

If people were actually selling ships for less than half the retail price, I'd probably go all-in and load up on them just so I have a bunch to paint in interesting ways or leave all over my workspace. But no dice, ain't nobody going cheap on them.

Ugh that sounds annoying. When i was horse trading more the best deals i found were on ebay for whole collections people didn't want to take the time to break up. So you can pay half price if you're willing to throw down like $400 for $1200 msrp in ships but yea otherwise idk. Going that route will almost always prejudice your collection towards the early waves tho
