I then explained to her that if she legitimately believes this, instead of whispering in her own office she's obligated to search for and find the bug and expose this extremely illegal behavior that only she claims to believe in and she never does - she would rather stew in a paranoid delusion than risk the possibility she might be wrong, because if she was wrong it would mean she'd have to stop thinking these negative but apparently highly satisfying thoughts.

I've decided to leave her to her own devices but I see this attitude mirrored in pizzagaters and qanon folk - they claim to be certain but don't want to risk being proven wrong so they never do anything about it. They'd rather let children get trafficked than actually put any more of their credibility on the line. Say what you will about the guy who actually shot up that pizza place, he believed what he believed and he actually tried to do something about it.

I wonder how these folks justify their lack of action to themselves, if they bother at all.

My friend knows someone like this too, at their lab there's a woman who is convinced that a quote "crazy stalker" is sneaking into the locked lab at night to move the samples a tiny fraction of an inch. The samples are on a plastic table and move slightly over time whenever they aren't placed on a mat. Sadly, this woman is actually gaining traction with this theory and now every person in the lab is required to be escorted by police in and out. She's even made comments seemingly attempting to lay blame on my friend, and there's no convincing the woman otherwise.

Jesus lol. I was about to ask if this lab has security cameras that could either confirm or deny it but I know there's ultimately no convincing these people.

Mine has half-convinced one other co-worker who I feel I've probably talked down from it but I'm at least secure in the belief that neither of them will take this to someone else. They believe it but they're embarrassed to it feels like, which is at least a departure from pizza paranoia.

Yeah I feel like it's natural to have those fleeting thoughts of weird paranoia. I get them sometimes, where it's like "oh why is that cop here at the gas station, must be watching me" then you're like, uhhhh no. Or you see a random person and they give you the creeps etc. But some people hold onto those thoughts and get into gangstalking territory. I'm sure weed doesn't help considering it makes thoughts and feelings even stickier in your brain

Yeah, I used to have weird paranoid thoughts during social situations. They went away when I got therapy and got medicated for anxiety! Mental healthcare is important!

You could do that or you could invest in companies selling all the beta blockers and calcium channel blockers that keep boomers hearts from exploding when they watch Tucker or Hannity.

im guessing that qanon people gaining a critical mass and "doing something" probably looks something like the anti-abortion movement because they believe legal abortion is a literal ongoing holocaust of babies and that idea is way more mainstream than qanon

so there's unite the right 2 in a week, which i expect to be a giant flop. the "national march against left-wing violence" on aug. 18 is the next thing the right-wing circuit has planned.

cities are

1. Boston, MA
2. Austin, TX
3. Los Angeles, CA
4. San Jose, CA
5. Springfield, MA
6. Charleston, WV
7. Buffalo, NY
8. Seattle, WA

seattle will be joey.

last time they tried this in san jose it was a disaster as they did it in chicano park. [oops i meant san diego i get my west coast cities mixed up] boston is this "resist marxism" crew which are the /pol/ neo-nazis who wear blue outfits.

austin could be one of the larger ones but it's loving weeeird. there's a whole bunch of different events popping up for it with weird names for the groups like "texans against communism." preeeety shady.

not sure this is a great idea for them? locally they don't tend to have many people so they have lots of folks travel to one location. like in austin, they'd have these "march 4 trump" events but a lot of the people would fly in from out of town. but they're trying to do this in eight places.

Have any of these things been? I think, given how pathetic the Proud Boys are in general, going out in public even on an individual basis constitutes "not a great idea."

Boston always gets the same 20 idiots from New Hampshire/New York, the guy who thinks he invented email, and some other fat south Asian who are both local.

I have no idea who out of that group would make it to Springfield. Literally all six of the /pol/ kids are from the Boston suburbs and two need their moms to drive them.
