i imagine stryfe is gonna be the most powerful character in the game, just like jean was when she came out, and that will drive sales

I just did like 5 10.95% rolls, failed each time and decided "well that's like 50% so gently caress this." Maybe I'm doing the math wrong? Probability doesn't actually work like "10% means I'll get it 1 out of 10 times." I'm sure some people get lucky and succeed 10 times in a row but it seems statistically more likely to just fail over and over again, no? You shouldn't improve your odds rolling more times. It just stays at 10% each roll. I got a D in Statistics but I watch a lot of baseball.

if you do 10% ten times you have a 50% chance to get it in theory since you get to start at half of your previous roll it wouldnt surprise me if a 10% chance was actually 5% tho cos if it wasnt, it would be like twice as effective as rolling at 100%, and it clearly isnt

I’ve had a lot of good luck doing 10%. I did 24->25 on one 10% roll on my Cap slot 1.

But doesn't 10% ten times still add up to like 55-60% of the cost for a 50% chance? It doesn't seem worth it? I guess I'm not really a gambler. I only play roulette so I can spread my odds across the board.

According to this reddit post you'd need to fail 10 times at 10% to lose out on gold and 18 times to lose out on mats relative to going all the way to 100%.

Like I said, I guess I'm just not a gambler. The second I rolled that 10th fail I'd be scolding myself for being an idiot. And with each one I'd be debating sunken cost fallacy stuff as I already am with the handful of rolls I did telling me "you might as well do it a few more times and see what happens."

I always do the rolls at 100%, i'd rather use the mats on a sure thing than a risk thing. Dammit, I only have 3k crystals, I'm going to have to save up to upgrade the epic quest to the premium to get Psylock.

I only have like 2K so its going to be awhile for me. And I really wanted to grab the Thor costume and will probably want the Cable one. But ah well. I might just grab Thor (if he's on sale) and Cable (assuming reviews are good) and worry about Psylocke later.

Like you can tell me all the live long day about how the Math bears out the idea that it's more efficient to invest a smaller amount of materials/gold for a chance to level up a character. And I'm sure people have done the maths and worked this all out. But your tale of having failed around 90+ times has convinced me my strategy of only investing the 100% ammount of material was the right call. Like I know what it's like to pull that slot and hope for RNG to go my way. I've done it before. And in the end I will take the longer grind for the sure thing.

I'll probably get the Cable outfit, hopefully it will make him more survivable because I still find him a glass cannon I still hate WBU. Its so tedious and there's so much fiddly things you need to do, and with the janky controls of this game its like playing Dark Souls with a broken controller. Like a mash buttons to get someone to do an ability that gives them i frames to avoid an attack, and they just sit there, getting hit, which is normally death. Or the movement control just fails to register and they get hit with the obvious attack. I usually give up after getting 2 wins if the 3rd fails because of something stupid.

# ? Aug 7, 2018 14:46 |

Personally, I have no interest in WBU. Like you said, it is pretty tedious. I have no interest in getting T3 characters at the moment, and I feel that is fine. NM have done pretty well (so far) at not making T3 necessary to do anything. They essentially just let you do higher WBU levels easier.

I was really into WBU when it first started, because it seemed like a new fun challenge. It really wore on me though especially because the gameplay isn't actually that fun. If it could be more then spam spam spam and hope to dodge something that is kills me in one hit then maybe.

I think the most failures I've gotten in a row were 5 or 6. I'm going to say gently caress it to the math and still always go in ~20%-33% because it's treated me very well so far.

I just did a bunch of guys and a couple took 15-17 tries before they went through. Then like 4 of them took between 1-4 tries. It all evened out to a cost savings.

Yeah and I only use the BAM to drive the percentage up and I get a shitload of it every day so I don't really care. I'm haven't touched the game today I'm waiting for the update to go live tonight so I don't hit any epic quest walls in that window the update is live and the cycle hasn't reset yet.

Guessing you're working with pretty bad cards or obelisks or something then, level 1 WBU should get nigh instantly destroyed with the meta characters. The only exception is using a character that is weak to the specific boss with the special reductions they have. But Scarlet should bend Dwarf over her knee easily at WBU 1, especially with her costume.

The other big factor is the number of Tier 2 characters you have and the amount of Valour you have. (Which goes up as your raid level goes up.) When I started Proximas Midnight, her level 1 fights were tough affairs. Now my big characters annihilate her. How much Valour do you have? (You can find out by clicking the magnifying glass near Raid Level.)

From the update details ABX is changing to a two week rotation. The current 7 followed by: Female Villain, Speed Female Hero, Combat Female, Speed Villain, Blast Villain, no restrictions, and Universal Female Hero. So that's Hela, Supernova, Proxima, Enchantress, or Ghost w/ uni? X-23 or Domino for speed. My best combat would be Valkyrie though I don't have Sif, Nebula, Ms Marvel or America at T2 yet. Vulture or Ghost for speed villain. Stryfe the biggy for blast villain, otherwise Magneto, Yellowjacket or Klauuueuee. Finally Quasar, Satana w/ uni or I guess Clea. Captain Marvel can stay alive but doesn't have much damage. Medusa? edit: reddit reminds me Captain America has a female costume. He'll be out his modern uniform bonus but still be 70 and T3.

Black Widow with her Infinity War costume is a good speed female option. Satana with her costume was already my Universal option before I T3ed Thor so she's good for Universal female. Female Villain and Combat Female is going to trip me up. Proxima I guess for the former and its a reason to buy her costume and work her up to 70. And maybe the Cap uniform for Combat? I don't know about that one. An excuse to work up Valkyrie I guess.

Here's something I have always wondered. What is the point of Alliance Battle and ABX? Like AB is often a daily requirement or needed for quests. And you get 25 bios for doing it which is handy for ranking up Tier 2's. Then you do ABX which near as I can tell gets you a six star ISO if you score 1 million. Who h is nice for Awakening Iso's, I guess. Also it's some benchmark for how much damage a character can do, like those target dummies in WoW. So the E-peen rating. What else is the point of ABX?

The Question IRL posted:Here's something I have always wondered. What is the point of Alliance Battle and ABX? It’s actually 100k in abx where you get max rewards and you need 6* isos if you like awakening your stuff. There’s also a decent chunk of gold which always helps.
