not a cult posted:this happens with any show that's not childishly black and white, there are people who root for tony loving soprano With Tony Soprano it's pretty contextual because everyone on the show is pretty awful so character like Bobby who are still murderers are among the more likable characters on the show. It's a show and forming an attachment to the main character is what happens when everything works the way it's supposed to. It doesn't mean that you condone the actions of that character in real life.

I need something to watch that's somewhat light that I can binge and not care when I fall asleep halfway through if I've got it on at night. Netflix wants to recommend Supernatural to me, I watched the first episode last night and it was fine I guess. Is it halfway decent? Seems to have a million episodes, and I've heard it has obsessive fans, but know nothing else about it.

Supernatural owns BUT it's 22 episode seasons so there's a lot of filler. Some of the MOTW stuff is good, some isn't, but the strength of the show are the two leads and their good chemistry and performances. I've said this before but imo the perfect watch-to-fall-asleep content out there is MST3K/Rifftrax because you don't have to pay an ounce of attention. Netflix has 22 episodes and Hulu has more, and Prime has about 40 Rifftrax movies with the riff track already integrated.

Supernatural was initially planned for 5 seasons, so the first 5 seasons are really tight and good. Stop watching at the end of season 5.

Good tip, for me Law & Order is kind of the perfect show for this but I've seen every L&O episode approx 35409 times so I really need something new.

I like watching Doc Martin. Really low stakes with lots of beautiful scenery every episode. Sometimes it's so slow that it puts you to sleep.

Pluto.tv has a dedicated Rifftrax AND mst3k channel, so it's really easy just to tune in without making choices.

Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, American Dad, Futurama, Family Guy, Community, Brooklyn 99 are all shows we bounce between and let play in the background as we do chores and/or sleep. e: King of the Hill too but that's because I got impatient waiting for it to come back to Netflix like 3 years ago and just bought the whole series digitally on amazon and still have access to it even though you can't buy it anymore.

The 2nd live episode, particularly the skit between Jon Hamm and Tracey Morgan is comedy gold and only the second acceptable use of blackface ever.

Yeah, it was kind of weird to have him go from moral compass to ok I will be a bad guy but just so I can minimize the badness. Its like Captain America being like "fine, I will run the Black Ops for the US, but only so I can keep the kill count low".

Homeland is finally ending at Season 8 which I say is 7 seasons too long. I still contend it could have been an all-time show if it just ended at the 1st season.

Ending of Luke Cage season 2 was fine, if grim. He basically realizes he has to turn Harlem into a mashup of Switzerland and Hamsterdam to keep a lid on things. It's all going to blow up in his face, of course.
