in daggerfall the mages guild is presented as pretty evil and generally untrusted by outsiders. soul-binding is appropriately treated as a vile practice, and items could normally be enchanted without soul gems. if you had a soul bound item, the trapped soul would be released and vengeful when it broke

the great house telvani is also p good in morrowind. completely sociopathic sorcerers living in towers only accessible by flight. i think they were also the only faction that did not throw you out for murdering fellow members. something about stuff like that being treated as personal arguments, and hey if you won you were probably right

Yeah the other houses were boring compared to telvanni. I mean really why wouldn't you want to join the insane ancient wizards that live in gigantic mushrooms? It's a shame that later elder scrolls games toned down the bonkers insanity of Morrowind. The complete madness is a good chunk of what made it so memorable.

i got a bunch of chameleon orbs and enchanted my gear to give me >100% chameleon all the time. it made the ai break in hilarious ways, and also practically made me a god

hi i just thought about Redguard, an Elder Scrolls spinoff best described as something of an action-RPG/adventure game hybrid.

i think my favorite story was the guy who exploited the alchemy system in morrowind, just spamming (stacking) effects out of the staring town. then he flew directly to dagoth ur and punched him so hard the game crashed

I had the difficulty too high and it took like 5 minutes of kiting rats and shooting flares at them before I gave in and lowered it.

But I got the first piece of my "clothing that's better than armor" set and have some boots with 13 fire shield permanently.
