i give absolutely zero shits about the cartoon itself. i think it looks bad and i'm probably not going to watch it.

i also think it's absolutely bonkers how incredibly heated and angry right-wing people have decided to get about the show, and why they even remotely care that someone is ruining their precious Thundercats. i think it's kind of equally insane and stupid that a loving art style, one used by many actual good shows (Gumball and Gravity Falls spring to mind), is being taken as some sort of sign of the degradation of western culture by homosexual furries or whatever the absolute gently caress this whole "CalArts style" nonsense is. the fact that anyone over the age of loving 12 had a stronger reaction to that poster than "looks bad todd" or "looks fine" is genuinely stunning to me.

What genuinely baffles me is how much nostalgia people have for 1980's cartoons that were literally cheaply made toy advertisements.

As much as I enjoyed He-Man growing up my now adult brain can see it for what it is; a bad, cheaply produced toy commercial aimed at children because children don't know any better. Thundercats wasn't much different and boy howdy are so many cartoons from that era just impossibly awful.

It shouldn't be shocking at all that new cynical cash grabs are being made.

Some of the relauches are good, made by people who grew up on the original and wanted to make a decent story (like the first Thundercats relaunch) with the concept. Whether the new Thundercats will fit that bill I don't really know, or care. What I do know about the original Thundercats is that even among the commercial cartoons of the 80s it was bad. People have fooled themselves into thinking the opening was the whole show.

You say that as if multiple people in this thread haven't done just that. There's also the thing where people make porn games and then when Steam catches on and threatens to delist them for violating their rules about porn games people buy it en masse in the name of supporting "free speech", which is how most of the posters in the Steam thread wound up owning a copy of that lovely furry futa pirate VN.

I think you're misremembering, that weeaboo store bought banner ads for years on this site and the hentai game reviews also posted affiliate links at the end of reviews to make money off all the people buying it.

so this is what it's like to have no critical thinking skills

nobody bought Mutiny!! because they were supporting "free speech" or whatever. people bought it because they secretly wanted a furry porn VN but weren't willing to pay $20 for it

This is basically what happened probably. I wanted it because I thought it'd be fun to riff on and despite people quoting things like that onion article "ironic porn purchase leads to unironic ejaculation," people can, in fact, laugh at and make fun of porn things.

Unfortunately even the double censored version available on steam is still too pornographic to stream, and the triple censored patch a goon made for me to fully censor the game still doesn't get it to a point where I could stream it on twitch without getting in trouble because the game only censors most of its sex scenes and I guess the devs didn't consider the numerous foreplay scenes to be sexual enough to be cut.

The writing still isn't good enough. But there was an effort.
